It’s February already and we have a new thread to say hello to friends old and new; this is where we share ‘stuff’ … the big things and the ephemera of life …  the good and the not so good … knowing that a hug and a cuppa is always available when needed … a trouble shared is a trouble halved and our collective shoulders are broad … so  pull up a comfy chair, the kettle’s hot, the pastries are warm … and the seed catalogues are spread all over the table …

  • Good morning all 😊 ☕️  … it’s 4C and clear, with a really blustery wind here in Norfolk … think those of us this side of the country might need to batten down the hatches folks …

Morning all. Morning Dove and another thank you for a new month's Forkers. I always think that February is the month to start us looking forward to the coming year and planning any changes in our gardens.

So does anyone have any special plans?

@Dovefromabove Thank you for starting another month's chat. 😊
I think many of us are already sniffing out the possibilities of another gardening year. I am trying to ignore the emails from Promesse de Fleurs and al. Not going to fall for it this year. She says. 😂
But no special plans @AnnaB, except that I am going to bury some pots in the raised bed as home-made hoyas.

It is a religious festival @AuntyRach,  as always mixed with folklore I suppose. I don't know much about it except that my grandma used to keep the candle that was handed out on this day and lighted it when she was frightened by thunderstorms!
There are also many sayings about the weather for the rest of winter being forecasted on this day.

    Have a nice day all!

Good February morning everyone - thank you @Dovefromabove once again, a really nice introduction to the "last"? month of winter - a pinch and a punch and all that!!

We have a sunny windy (still) morning but the temperature has risen to 4°C, although as @Busy-Lizzie says it seems colder with the bitter wind.

They are called "olla's"   @coccinella   if anyone is interested in sinking some pottery pots as an irrigation system.  Good, if you are going away for a few days.  My, (now retired) physio who is into natural, does it, and is well-pleased.  Except for the initial digging!!!

No gardening for me today.  Too windy and cold.  I have to hold my hand down not to touch the seed bucket because it is far too early here to get things going and I had a funny crop last summer because I sowed too early and our spring was exceptionally cold until it went suddenly exceptionally too hot!!

@floralies - be a good patient and you won't pop the hip out!!!   :D   Walking is the best physio and only you will know about the scar which just becomes a dent as our body matter goes further south!!

Today being the first is:  A la Saint Ignace, l'eau est de glace!

Stay warm.  Kia kaha - stay safe.

For those of you who missed it cos you were in the shower or buttering your toast, I’ve found this for you

Hello @Pat E  I can see a walrus in the first photo looking towards it from the rear, and in the second he seems to be on his back rolling in the sand!!   Dove's OH seems to be of the same opinion!!

I am glad you are feeling up to posting.  Foul weather in Auckland with severe flooding - the world is topsy turvy!!
