Good morning Ruby. I hope that all goes well at your asthma assessment today. I have no intentions of going out anywhere today it is so grim outside. Forecasters are right again!
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Good morning all. Fiancés day went well some decisions made and he is excited to put on his own menu. He is thinking lamb shanks and venison proper hearty food for this time of year. Traffic was bad but there is a gym on site he is allowed to use so he would leave earlier to use that before work and avoid the traffic. Early starts but excellent for his diabetes for some reason using weights in particular really improves his levels. He also says he has more energy after a gym session. He has a meeting today with the gardener and wants to suggests keeping bees in the kitchen garden He likes his sous chef, also new to the job and French and very enthusiastic. All going well so far thank you for asking.
Pouring down here and windy I want to do more clearing and organising today. I won’t venture out I don’t think.
Morning all....or is it? It was pitch black when I woke up and it's not much lighter now. It feels like the middle of the night. Ante, I can well remember these dark mornings getting up ready for work and then coming home in the dark, felt like battery hens. I too am having trouble assessing this site and other sites too so last night, I reset the ipad and went to bed. This morning it's much better. Enjoy the walk in the snow. LB, glad that you had a good night and did a little better with the quiz. I hope Jack was okay at the hospital and that whoever the ambulance was for is doing alright. It's is a worry though. Ive been slowly doing away with all my clutter these past few weeks, but, no doubt the empty spaces now will slowly fill up again. Debs, fingers crossed your fiancé enjoyed his first day in his new job. Have just spied your post, it certainly sounds much better for him, his enthusiasm and new ideas will stand him in good stead. And if it's good for his health( they gym in particular) that's a bonus. Rubee, good luck with the asthma test, hope everything is as it should be. Don't overdo things inside the house. Must get on now, see you later.
Good morning, very wet and breezy outside today. I doubt that I will be venturing far. I’ve got some indoor jobs to do and then I might start my painting that OH bought me for Christmas if I can get a good enough light on it.
So pleased that your fiancé had a good first day @debs64. Having an on site gym he can use is great too.
Red Maple, all this talk of ":painting" is reminding me that, in a month or two, I will have to get started on painting the hall, stairs and landing walls😬
Good luck with that @Songbird-2 😁. We cheated last time ours needed doing and got someone in to do it for us - the days of us clambering up ladders and balancing on planks to reach high places on the stairwell have long gone (thank goodness 😂).
Morning all - what a horrid day out there. Did manage half an hour outside yesterday clearing up fallen twiggy branches from next door's silver birches. Messy trees - not great in smaller domestic gardens IMO.
This is definitely the time of year when Topbird's 30 minute rule comes into its own. Try to do one 30 minute outside job most days. Don't think that will be happening today though. Just as well I have lots of paperwork to keep me occupied.
Chive - so sorry to hear your mum is struggling. Fortunate that you live near enough to be able to pop round fairly regularly. We are slightly concerned about MIL but, as we live nearly 200 miles away, we can only offer limited practical help. Luckily she has very good neighbours who keep an eye on her.
LB - fingers crossed the news from over the road is not too bad. Must have been a heart stopping moment when you thought it might be Jack.
BL - glad you made it home safely. Do you know how long you're here for?
Ante - back to work - boo! Enjoy the cottage whenever you can.
Debs - congrats to your OH on his new job - looks like a fab place. Hope you get treated to some visits.
Rosie - nice to hear you're starting to feel a bit better. Sounds like your mum might have you started on paint brush duties soon...
Red Maple - what sort of painting are you doing? I quite enjoy watercolours.
Hazel - what's all this about painting? Didn't you do the stairs last year? Thought that was where you had a little mishap with the paint pot and carpet.... I did the tallest part of our stairwell a few weeks ago. Had to get OH to do the very top bit of edging though - I just couldn't reach- even on fully extended ladders. As LB knows - I'm VERY short!
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
My stairs and landing needs doing in my French house. I meant to do it in the autumn but didn't get around to it.
I'm glad you enjoyed the quiz LB.
I don't know how long I will be staying @Topbird. I had thought of going back the end of March. I have dual Nationality so not really a problem but I'm supposed to pay tax in the country I spend over 6 months in. I think if you are a carer for someone it's a bit different though. I may fly back for a visit and borrow son's car, he has a spare.
Horrible outside, wet, windy and cold. Went out to bring in the brown garden bin which they have emptied. Normally Friday, should have been yesterday, glad it's been done as it was full of all the stuff I pruned to clear NDN's path and I will be needing it for our garden, once the weather is suitable.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Topbird, after incident with paint spillage we lost the motivation to do the walls then so.......it is now catching up with us. But, can't do it now anyway, too cold for paint to dry🙄🫣😉will wait for warmer weather.....

Well, I’d better show willing and get moving.
