The wind is just starting to get up here tLB. We've got gale force winds predicted over the weekend with predicted 60mph wind and lower temperatures too. On Monday the forecast is for 3 degrees....back to a cold...ish snap then. Also frosts are predicted. Joy☹️

Evening all. Been another dark, wet day - just right for my paperwork tasks.

BL - so pleased to hear things might finally be moving in the right directon for your OH. Keeping fingers crossed. My friend has her hip op tomorrow - not sure whether it's at the Nuffield or WSH. She's been in compulsory isolation in the spare room for the last week to ensure she doesn't test positive for Covid. Been a tad boring but will be worth it.

LB - I see marrowfat peas in the SM & often wonder who still buys them. Haven't had them for donkey's years. Every so often I think about recreating a childhood pantry with blocks of jelly, tinned cream, Angel Delight, tinned potatoes, tinned ham, tinned peas, tinned fruit cocktail etc etc.

Hi Hazel, it has gone very cold here this afternoon. I am planning a trip to the GC tomorrow so I do hope the rain eases off.
Evening T'Bird. Jack wanted them as apparently his daughter wants to make pea and ham soup and she hasn't been able to find any peas in the bargain SMs she goes to.
Oh my goodness but you just brought back some memories there - Angel delight! Used to love that and tiny fruit cocktail. I always wanted the little cherry.
I remember my great aunts tea parties. They used to do all that kind of thing. I also remember that they used to buy marrowfat peas and in each packet there would be a small tablet in a kind of muslin bag and the peas would be steeped in water + this tablet. I have no idea what all that was about and I'm not even sure whether I ate any of the product of this whole steeping exercise. I reckon I need to do some research!
I am signing out for tonight so I'll say goodnight to you all. Hope that we all sleep well. See you all tomorrow.

Rosie, good to hear you've been out for a walk today, and with your dad, the fresh air will, hopefully, have done you both some good. I hope you continue to feel better now.
LB, hope you have a enjoyable trip to the GC tomorrow, that will be a nice change. Wonder what will drop into your basket?🤔
I can hear gusts of winds outside now, not a fan. Have noticed, too, that our blinds in front of two of the new double glazed units/windows that we had installed last year, are blowing merrily in the wind.  Problem with the seals from what we can deduce so I'll be on to the Company first thing in the morning, to come and see to it.
Signing out for tonight. Night all.

We've been binge watching "Happy Valley".

That tablet was for softening the marrow fat peas when they were soaked. Think it had sodium bicarbonate in it.

    Morning all,

Another night falling asleep in the CA.

It's wild outside. Apparently we've already had more than the average rainfall for January so probably be talking about more unwanted records by the end of the month. OH is starting to moan about it as she is the one who is out and about more. I just stay indoors chunnering about not being able to do much in the garden.

Good morning Biglad and all to follow.

Sorry to hear about awful weather Biglad. Hope rain will not cause any damage.

I have calm, sunny and cold morning, but next week apparently we will have snow. It's finally first Friday of this year. I must go, so wish you all nice and warm day, and see you later.

Thanks for the infomation about the mysterious pellet in the marrowfat peas Busy!
Biglad, I have been seeing quite disturbing news on the TV about flood areas further south. Whatever the weather I am at the GC this morning. Hazel I'll let you know what leaps into my basket.

Hello all. Not looking forward to today as I am quite superstitious. In an extra 2 hours at work as we are short staffed so a long day ahead!
At least it’s dry here though wind is cold.
    Have a good day everyone
