LB, yes, managed, on the spur of madness, to get the jet spray out and all paths and patio are duly cleaned and ( were) dry. The heavens have opened since then but at least everywhere is non slip now. I got into a wonderful muddy mess, as well as everything around me(OH hates this job) but I got it all cleaned up and shipshape Bristol fashion! Popped out into town(: got some more wool ,for a hat for me this time) and picked up a few things. Now in for the night, it's very dark already and cold. ( ....enjoy your quizzing tonight LB, get that brain in gear....)
Well done on the jet washing Hazel and you really did want one of those snuggly hoodie blankets didn't you? Will they cover up feet as well? My feet sems to be quite good detectors of the temperature! I think I'll go and fetch in the wet cloths as it is now starting to go dark. Needless to say I have done zilch about decs today. Maybe tomorrow.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
I think these oversized hoodie things can accommodate the feet if you're curled up on the sofa LB. air is quite long though. My nose is good cold indicator at the moment! I'm still cogitating about the decs. Think we'll wait until after this week and then get them up.
Good evening all. Yes, we’re back up and running and toastie warm again. The plumber got to us at 4pm. Well done with the jet washing @Hazel92. @Songbird-2 we’ll be starting the rest of the decs at the end of the week.
Red Maple, good to hear everything's sorted now . Did the plumber find out what caused the leak? Bet it's lovely having heating hot water at the turn of a switch again. You're right,we take so much for granted these days but when we are without an item it makes such a lot of difference. Meant to say, well done for raising so much money for your Church from thenChristmas Fayre, hope most things got bought ,eaten or drank!
NB...ALERT ... just to let those of you who don't know, that England are playing ( footy) on Saturday night, so reckon the TV listings will be dire😂😬🤭
Red Maple, I'm glad that problem is solved, and that you have again warm house.
Hazel, hope that match at Saturday will not be so stressful to your OH like ours with Japan today.
It was, and still is an awful day. Cold with heavy rain most of the day. I survived Monday and football so it's time for dinner and tea. Hope you are all at warm now.
Sorry to have been AWOL for so long but thank you for caring! We got back from Germany about 2.5 weeks ago and just seem to have been really busy since then. I don't really like posting without reading back in case something has happened which becomes an increasingly daunting task as the days pass! This time I'm especially glad I did a marathon session last night to catch up with all your news as I can see our @Ladybird4 has had a really rough couple of weeks.
I was so sorry to read about your brother LB - I know how close you are to your family. You're the rock of this thread and always caring about and supporting the rest of us. I'm so sorry I wasn't there for you at the time but I'm glad your other friends on here were around with comforting words. Look after yourself🙂
Also sorry to read that Kitty is no longer with us. I hope Jack is coping ok.
Also sorry to read that Rubee's OH is not so good again. His legs are proving the very devil of a job to get sorted aren't they?
Welcome to Red Maple. What part of Yorkshire are you in? My OH originates from Castleford & we spent several years living in York when first married. His family are now all closer to Selby and we'll be off to see them for a few days of festive stuff in about 10 days time.
Ante - we've had quite a bit of most welcome rain recently but (like you) I have fingers firmly crossed for a wet winter and spring to replenish the deep water reserves.
Like everyone I've been busy with present shopping and writing seasonal cards. Posted mine and the rest of the late December birthday cards today. After a few funerals 😬 and with the help of e-cards I've whittled my list of Christmas cards for posting down to just 20 - about a quarter of what I used to send. It seems slightly ridiculous when the cost of the postage is (quite a lot) more than the cost of the card - especially when there's no guarantee of when they'll be delivered this year.
I need to send a Christmas parcel to my brother but we're still waiting for a couple of parcels posted nearly 2 weeks ago which are probably sat in a huge pile at a sorting office somewhere. So I'm going to use a courier service rather than relying on Royal Mail - it's about the same price and (at the moment) a whole lot more reliable.
I've just booked to go for a pneumococcal vaccination. I didn't know such a thing existed but it sounded like a good one to have. Have any of you had it? It's a one-off for over-65's (just achieved that milestone this year!) and helps prevent pneumo complications.
Off to a Parish Council meeting this evening (deep joy!) as we have some planning 'issues' going on in our lane ATM. I really don't like turning out in the evening these days when it's cold & dark & I've got all comfy on the sofa. Obviously getting very old!
That's a shed load of my ramblings - sorry about that. Looking forward to an OC session when I get home.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Lovely to see you @Topbird and you sound as busy as we all seem to be at the moment. I've never heard of that Pneumococcal vaccination, must see about that. Hope tonight's Parish Council meeting goes okay, more problems arising in the lane?😬 @Ante1, my OH told me tonight about the good result from Croatia, yes! But his stress levels will be sky high again on Saturday😂 I'll be taking myself off somewhere quiet..... Signing off for now. Have a good evening everyone. @Ladybird4, LB, meant to say it's great that you've got your new lens through the post today. Are they the new prescription ones, cheaper on line than via the shop? Hope they're okay for you. Edited to add ,@Rubee, I was sorry to hear that your OH legs are playing up again. Will a nurse be coming in every day to change them or do you manage that? Does he have any special cream to go on the skin or are the bandages put on blind for the support and tension? I hope they settle down soon. How are his blackouts after all those injections? Has that treatment worked? Seems a while ago now since he had that done. Night all.

Hazel, it's wise decision to do something else when OH will watch game. I never take it so serious, but like to watch it sometimes.
Rubee, I'm sorry to hear that your OH is again in pain. Hope he will be better as soon as possible.
