  • LB I’ve an oversized fluffy lounger, very useful and snuggly.  Top bird I hope the input at the planning meeting proves positive.  I woke early but fell back to sleep and I had a cat laying on top of me.  Jumper weather today.  Ante your cat looks very cosy there on top of the throw.
  • Hazel I’m glad to hear 23 is making progress and hope soon to be better.

Afternoon all. Very late on parade.
LB, thanks for tips re growing a peach tree. Do they have to brought inside over winter?
Rosie, thanks for kind words about 23, he's much better now. They're soon down but soon up again at that age. I wore my oversized hoodie last night, aren't they so warm?
The sun is out again today but it's bitterly cold. The paths I jet  sprayed have all dried out and they look really nice in the sun now.

Debs, you've had a busy time of it ,I hope you get sons bedroom sorted and ready for his arrival. Your day at Trentham  Gardens sounds nice and always good to come away with some thing.
Busy, what a shame you can't get the winter wheels on until next week now. Go easy if out driving. Conditions are set to get somewhat precarious here this week. Enjoy your christmas shopping and hope you manage to find something for the 7 grandchildren.

    Good afternoon/evening,
There was a sharp frost this morning and it has been chilly all day, but so much more preferable to the damp, grey days we have recently had so much of. OH and I took a trip to a garden centre this morning, though it’s hardly a GC these days, as it doesn’t sell much in the way of plants anymore. We went to have a look at its Christmas displays - they’re a work of art, colour themed in different sections of the shop. Of course, we didn’t come home empty handed and bought a few more additions to our collection of decorations. This inspired me to begin putting out a few more of our decorations, and the job will continue over the next week, so for now we have the mantle garland up to go with the Advent wreath that came out the first Sunday of Advent, and the door wreath (which came at the weekend) is now attached to the front door.  🎶 It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas 🎵. 😁🎄
@Ante1, your cat and dog looked very contented and settled on the chair rug last night.
Hope you all have a good evening.

    Good evening to all.

I came home quite late from cottage, and now have tea after warm shower. Snow is all gone after heavy rain last few days, so I was able to harvest some veggies. It was muddy but last radishes are out, and also I get some daikon and black radish. I'm tired but satisfied. Sorry but I didn't read back. I'll do it but first must write two more Christmas cards, and send them tomorrow. One goes to Germany and other to Austria.

Hope you all had a nice day.

  • I’m changed for bed and resting and made some headway into wrapping Christmas presents.  Feel quite tired.  The temperature is set to drop so woollies on.  Red maple enjoy decorating.  Have a restful evening all.

Good evening all. I have FINALLY completed my Christmas cards. Why is it you keep finding people you THOUGHT you sent a card to only to discover you haven't? I always finish by writing the immediate neighbours and Jack and his family cards last. They are like the full stop to my card list.
Rosie, I love the sound of your lounger. I've looked at a few but the one I really wanted was out of stock - it had kittens on it
Gosh RedM, your house sounds very festive. I haven't started on mine yet. Somehow other things just seem to get in the way. It may have to be next week now.
Hazel, peach trees do not need to be brought in unless they are in pots (you can get dwarf varieties) but they do need to be sheltered. Against a south facing wall would be good.
Ante, I am glad you were able to get your radishes up - did your neighbours all hide behind their doors?? I will Google daikon as I haven't a clue what that is. Oh now I know - another variety of radish also known as mooli. I have heard of mooli. Is one of the cards for your sister Ante? Sorry, I am being too nosey!
I am signing out for tonight people so enjoy your evenings and I'll see you tomorrow. I might have to rearrange going to my Bestie's if the weather warning in my area is raised to another level. It is only yellow at the moment.

I've had quite a busy day today, big Christmas shopping spree for the grandchildren. OH stayed at home. I went to a huge hypermarket, Auchan, and a huge toyshop. I also wanted a small Christmas tree, about 3ft tall, fake or real, to go on the shelf on the half wall that divides the kitchen and the breakfast room, but I couldn't find one. I found a dinky little 2 ft fake one so I bought that. I can't put one in front of the sitting room French windows like last year because OH likes to go out that way. There is no room for a tree here, all the spaces are filled. That's the problem with downsizing.

When I got home and after I had a sandwich and a cup of tea around 4.30pm I finished making the chicken noodle soup (had some this evening) and I made 33 mince pies. 17 are for the church Christmas fair. Must make more for the Carol Service on Sunday.  We ate 2 each while watching Harry Potter, the first film. Will watch the 2nd half tomorrow. OH has gone to bed.
