Good afternoon all. I had a lovely meet up with all the rellies today - quite emotional.
I am feeling inspired now to start my decorating tomorrow - whilst waiting for the postie to come and pick up my parcels and cards. I've been printing off postage labels and customs declarations for all my overseas cards - sick of the sight of sticky tape!
Busy, you have had another fun packed day I'll bet. 5 small people to keep you on your toes but I'm sure a delicious lunch will have made up for it. Your shower sounds interesting. Nice to have a seat in it too - must be useful for your OH. Hope you have a non-slip base.
Rosie, I'm sure that your glass of port will have been nice and warming on such a cold day - well its been very cold over here.
Oh my goodness Red M. that is a nightmare scenario. I would hate being without water and heating. Trust it to happen on a Sunday! That is a very respectable amount of money raised at your Christmas Fayre. Enjoy watching Scrooge. The first film I remember watching (many moons ago) with Albert Finney in was Tom Jones. I thoroughly enjoyed it. My friend who came with me was very keen on David Warner who was also in the film. I think he played someone called Blifill - or something like that anyway. Most details ae lost in the mists of time.
Ante, your biscuits as ever, look delicious. Send one down the tunnel please I do have to say that I'm fairly easy to buy for too Ante. Apart from Jack's washing up bowl request from me I just ask for large bags of compost. Perfect!

Ruby, I can understand your difficulties. I now add the facial features before I stitch up but another thing I have done which has been quite successful is to use coloured marker pens.

Red Maple, poor you and OH....ย that's happened to us too and why does it always happen at the most inconvenient time of the year just as the weather is turning ? Good thinking though to close everything down and wait for the plumber. Hope he can manage to sort it out tomorrow for you and hope you can manage tonight for drinks and warmth. I'll throw you a couple of knitted " throws" I've made recently, down the tunnel( Al will ย bring them to you๐Ÿคญ), they should help keep you warm. Seriously, take care overnight .( Do you have any hot water bottles you could maybe fill or ask the neighbours to fill for you?).

Rubee, snap! I've been knitting this afternoon too. Is the face of the boy doll you're knitting, knitted into the actual face or do you embroider it on afterwards? Are you nearly finished now?
Ive finished a small throw I've been knitting for my mum, she gave me quite a lot of wool on our last visit and have just finished knitting it all up now. It's a nice soft fleecy wool, quite thick and should cover her knees and legs comfortably without being too big. Will have to raid her wool supplies again though when we visit as I am down to my last three balls of wool now. She has tons of it in an old ottoman.ย
LB, hope you had an enjoyable day visiting rellies and hope you've had a decent car journey back home. It's been raining a lot here today and it's been dark all day.

Hazel the face is embroidered apart for the eyes which are felt .I have a huge stash of part balls of wool .I rarely need to buy in unless I am knitting for an adult .I have nearly finished but this is the part of the project that I take my time over .Doing the hair next .
LB those are useful tips ,thank you . Good that you had time with your relatives . Enjoy your decorating next week .

Rubee, that is the bit Imalwaya struggle with. The one little teddy bear I've knitted my mum would win a competition about name that animal! It came out looking nothing like what it should have. Should have used the marker pens as LB suggested!
LB, your meet up with family will have been an emotional time for you all. I hope you got lots of comfort and support from the family and could all think about the ย good times with your brother. Take care.
Ive started some new knitting now,but ย after the thick wool of the throw, it's like knitting with thin string๐Ÿ˜ฌย
Will sign off for now folks, have a good evening. I wonder where @Topbird is? Hope she's ok. Night all.
  • Red Maple I hope the leak can soon be sorted. ย Iโ€™ve just been watching a programme about the natural world in Cuba in the Caribbean a lovely series tbc next week. ย LB Iโ€™m just lounging on the bed after getting changed. ย I had a sandalwood narrow tooth comb arrive today should be more gentle and prevent static. ย Lily and Hazel hope you both sleep well. ย Ante sleep well before school. ย  Sleep well everyone.
