Evening all. We've made it to Wernigerode (very chocolate box!) and have settled into our little studio flat. Very clean, well equipped and warm. Lovely owner let me have a smooch of her short haired smokey grey cat. I have a real soft spot for smokey greys....

Weather forecast is looking good for tomorrow so we're going to try and do the mountain steam train. It's a 90 minute journey both ways with a caff and a museum at the top so we'll try to get up early enough to catch the 9am train which should then give us some time to explore the town in the afternoon. Wernigerode is a bit on the tourist route so we're hoping it isn't like other small towns and shuts down on Saturday afternoons. It will definitely be closed on Sunday - they all are. On the plus side I guess we'll save some pennies if the shops are closed 😁

    Enjoy your quizzing LB!

Rubee - so pleased to hear the treatments are doing some good. Hope he continues to improve.

    Good morning all.
Ruby that is super news about your OH. Long may these improvements continue.
Hazel, another busy day for you and your OH in the garden today. As you say, getting it all settled for this season. Good idea to have a solid base to stand on when pegging out.
T'Bird, another lovely report. I hope that you are up and at 'em this morning. I am going to try contacting Jack again this morning to find out how his smokey grey cat, Kitty, is doing. Not having had any response to the message I left on his phone yesterday I am a bit apprehensive.
Had a fun time at the Quiz. It was being run by the Bolton Lions Club as part of their annual appeal for toys for children. There was a very good response and lots of quiz teams participating. My friend won a box of Celebrations (other chocolates available) in the raffle and overall we came middling in the results.

Tonight it is Bestie's barn dance and hog roast in her village so I'm looking forward to going there though I do have to say that I am not keen on night time driving these days - especially when it is raining.

Good morning all. Raining here but it’s supposed to be dry later hope do as we have people coming for bonfire night. We don’t have a bonfire 🔥  just the Kadai and we eat and drink and watch all the fireworks other people have. Needs to be dry though.
@Rubee I am so pleased that OH is improving must be a weight off your mind too. Long May it continue.
@Topbird your trip sounds lovely my Gatsby is a smoky grey with white patches. Very friendly too.
@Ladybird4 well done with the quiz and your night out tonight sounds fun, what a gadabout you are, enjoy!

Good morning Rubee, debs and all to follow.

What a change overnight. Cold, windy and rain. Tomorrow will be again nice, but this is a harsh remainder which month is is. I have my tea and long sleeves. It will be another inside day.

    Morning all.

I'm glad your OH's legs have improved Rubee.

Sounds a nice flat, cosy, @Topbird. Have a lovely day. I expect there will be wonderful views up the mountain.

Enjoy the barn dance LB. I love barn dances but they are rare in France.

Grey outside but forecast says there will be sun. If there is then I will go outside and plant daffodils.

I must finish painting my bedroom, just a bit of wall left to do and the door. Didn't do it before as I was waiting for the electrician to remove some boxes off the wall to do with the ancient phone and burglar alarm. Just can't get motivated at the moment. I think I'm feeling a bit like a hedgehog going into hibernation mode!

Morning all. Raining again, @Biglad, please take Marti for yourself😂 Not needed here just now!@Ante, make the most of the rain, I'll send some of ours to you if you need more!
@Topbird, the accommodation sounds ideal, nice base for operations. Enjoy the steam engine ride, I, too, am a great fan of steam trains, very Agatha  Christie.😊
@Rubee, I have got my long knee high socks on today, they almost feel like compression socks but they make my legs lovely and cosy and " secure". Hope your OH continues to feel better.
@Busy-Lizzie, painting can be done another day, after your recent ups and downs I think you deserve to hibernate for at least a few days.
Oh, barn dance and hog roast @Ladybird4, sounds absolutely fantastic, yee -haa!  Fingers crossed it doesn't rain...
@debs64 , your bonfire night sounds like good fun, is your fiancés feeling better? Enjoy the night.
Have a good day one and all. We are going to the local skip, oh  joy......and then into town, oh joy........and then must get the flat metal thing out, oh joy.....😂😂

Joyful indeed🙁 Have done the first two and not onto the third....ye Gods, the pile is up the wall🥴
Ive done a silly thing today in that I put my hand right across the steam of a boiling kettle. Don't ask me why,( mind on other things probably) and I have a lovely scalded hand now😢 Have applied some some soap( bar of) and it's taken the sting out but gosh, when water touches it, ouch ouch.
@Busy-Lizzie, we still have out hall, stairs and landing walls to paint but it'll have to wait now until the spring.

Just about sorted now but the weather is filthy. Not to worry, I am sure it will be a fun night. Hazel, you are not having a happy day. Skip trip; town trip; hot flat metal and then you end up scalding yourself. Time to put your feet up and relax before the tornado that is 23 arrives tomorrow! At least you have an excuse not to build 'things'.
Ante, it has been cold and wet all day here - not nice at all but we are approaching winter so should be prepared. Your week away from school has passed by so quickly.
I am signing out for tonight so enjoy your evenings and I will see you tomorrow - unless I'm dozey doed out! I hope that you see some fireworks - safely from the warmth of your homes.
