Morning everyone, we woke to light drizzle here, it's still dull by dry now. Might try Oxburgh hall today as it's on the way home, well sort of, a little diversion but not much.
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Blickling and our meeting up with @Dovefromabove. As she says, great to put a face to the person - hope mine came up to expectations! Real shame @Busy-Lizzie and @didyw couldn't join us but perhaps another time. Just off now to our final pub dinner out, then a long journey home tomorrow.
Hope you have a good trip home as well @Allotment Boy. Realized you weren't joking about finding Blickling a bit tricky, it wasn't easy, was it.
Sorry you had trouble too @Lizzie27 , even when we got there the people at the house said oh yes lots of visitors say that. It would help if the brown signs didn't disappear when you are still a couple of miles away. Oxburgh was good tho not that much of the house on show. Interesting history. We only looked at the formal garden and kitchen garden outside, I know there are extensive grounds but we had to get on the road. Not too bad a journey back, getting ready for Capel tomorrow.
Glad you had a good time @Dovefromabove and @Lizzie27, but didn't you even look at the gardens? Wasn't there a buggy for Mr Lizzie?
We've had a busy day. OH has been unpacking the toolroom again and I've swept up loads more leaves and weeded half the Jewel bed.
The men came to fit the new front door. Now we have a door that fits, no drafts and it won't stick on the tiles in wet weather.
We had jumbo prawns cooked in butter, garlic and parsley with sliced mushrooms and grilled tomatoes, washed down with a glass of Chablis. We sat on the newly swept patio, enjoying the evening sunshine and the birdsong.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Thanks @Busy-Lizzie, yes, OH (on a borrowed buggy) and I looked round the gardens after Dove had left (she's been several times before I believe). We didn't get to see their Walled Garden however as we thought it was going to rain hard. It was only the Parterre that had herbaceous beds and I'll post pics once we get home. To be honest, I think I preferred Felbrigg.
Yes @Busy-Lizzie 😊 Mr Lizzie borrowed a buggy after they’d had lunch, so they looked around the gardens in the afternoon … I headed for home as I had things I needed to do.
I suppose I don’t realise that Blickling can sometimes be tricky to find … I’ve always gone there via Aylsham town centre and the road takes you straight there … perhaps it would be worth telling N. Trust that the signage needs improving.
Just watched Andy M’s match and now I’m in bed listening to the summer rain outside and smelling the petrichor 🌧

Good idea Dove. We've often found that though. You tend to get a couple of brown signs and then suddenly they disappear just when you need them. A friend once told me that the powers that be who authorise them (local authority or Highways Authority?) charge a small fortune for each one which may be why there's not more.

Good luck with 'co-ordinating posts' .....

Now I’m home (via a speedy pop in to W’rose to pick up the makings of a quick Prawn Laksa for supper) and my feet are up in front of the tennis. 😊
