Sorry to hear about all your woes @Nanny Beach. Fingers crossed you and your family can get the right treatment/therapy/exercises to get on the road to feeling better. Abscesses are so miserable - is your son on antibiotics? Swilling with warm salted water?
Here is a pic of the Lancaster, taken by the chap standing next to me - it was so low!
Shortly after that a local pilot did a loop the loop over us and then about 20 mins later we have the red arrows flying over! Amazing!
And the entertainment in the evening at the Castle all went swimmingly with a massive turnout of people. We had the local theatre performing a review of the 70 decades, with a Dr. Who theme running throughout (time travel), a massive choir, the Standards piped on to the grounds and the big beacon lit ending with a performance by a local composer/musician of the Bungay Overture. Magical!
@Pat E you might be interested in this tale from Pa’s memoirs … they were in a Lancaster on a mission over the dockyards of occupied northern Italy … just as the bomb aimer released their load Pa looked up and saw another plane from their squadron directly above them as it also released its load of bombs. He shouted a warning but there was nothing that could be done to avoid the ‘friendly’ bombs hitting their plane .., of course chaos ensued but the pilot managed to regain control of the plane and despite a huge hole in the fuselage and other damage and the wireless operator being injured, he was able somehow to fly the plane back to base and everyone survived. This shows some of the damage to the plane
The pilot was given a medal.
Great story...but if you'll forgive my pedantry the aircraft is a B24 Consoliated Liberator.
Lovely and warm here but...rain forecast for the weekend 🇬🇧☔️
Nipped to buy pond and pet stuff and I noticed most of the GC etc have 20% off atm. New Geum, some Osteospernums and Dahlias! The Dahlias are actually Dahlia Dahliettas and a burnt orange colour BUT they are called my name so into the trolley they went!
Have a lovely day folks, whether you are doing jubilee things or not. I must say that I enjoyed some of the TV coverage yesterday. Makes me a bit sad how frail the queen is but she lit up with little Louis by her side.
Aaargh! @Chris-P-Bacon my memory’s at fault … thank you for putting me right … I should’ve checked … that was indeed when Pa was in Liberators … my son will never forgive me for that faux pas!

Smashing photos Dove and what a tale! Your father was very lucky to have survived.
So pleased you had a good holiday @Yviestevie and that the evening festivities at the Castle went well @didyw. We enjoyed the TV coverage yesterday as well and watched a bit of the church service coverage this morning. Liked Kate's lemon yellow outfit and very interesting to see Camilla's cream and gold ensemble - signifying the future Queen Consort perhaps?
We're just back home and absolutely stuffed with a full Jubilee Afternoon Tea, (in lieu of lunch) held at our local Moravian church. Although we're not members, everyone was very friendly with lots of excited small children running around, good to see them enjoying themselves. I had to drive OH down though as it's a bit too far for him to walk these days.
I think my celandines have long since disappeared @Busy-Lizzie and have given up trying to control them. Before we went out I managed to prune our big pittospermum which was beginning to make our bedroom a bit dark, away from the house wall. It's clouding over now and I think it might rain later.
