I thought Alicia Keys was excellent.

I agree RS was the most cringeworthy, bit like Macca at the last one.  They really need someone to tell them when their voices have gone.  RS did say the Beeb made him do sweet Caroline,  it wasn't his choice. Appart from the lightshow, I  agree Diana Ross, was one of the best,  plus Elbow.

Afternoon all.  Slept in after all the activities of the last few days.  We had planned to broadcast the Party at the Palace on a giant screen for the last day yesterday.  We began with a big swing band and although the turnout wasn't as great as for the events on the previous two (sunny) days, it was sizeable enough to keep the food & drink vendors I had booked happy.  But it was windy - and a chilly wind at that!  Too windy for the big screen to go up, so the palace party was projected onto the castle tower.  Too bright to see anything much until much much later.  The crowd, having put on more layers, dwindled and dwindled...  But I had to stay until the end, to see that the food & drink people got off the site safely.  There were a few tiny groups of people left but the Committee chair felt that we couldn't cut the broadcast short (which by this time could be seen really well on the castle!) while they were still there. He was watching from his car which he had been privileged enough to keep on site.  After all the traders left, my OH and I did too - walking away to Diana Ross.  It was really quite dark by this time.  We had hired in lights, but the rest of The Committee decided to remove them before they all left - before it got dark!  I never want to have to work with the Town Council element of The Committee again!  The other element - the Community Support people - were brilliant and organised their day very well.  They feel the same as I do!

    Afternoon all,

Oh dear @Didyw, they sound a real pain but I'm glad your various do's went off well so you can take comfort from that.

@Busy-lizzie, did you get a chance to wear your new dress, sounded just the thing.

it's been very cloudy all day so far, we had a couple of thunder claps and a short burst heavy rain during the night but the soil is still very dry - I've started my next project which involves digging up more box hedge stumps for starters, then relaying more narrow paving slaps to widen the path and fixing a gravel board edging. That should keep me busy for the next couple of weeks.

@Obelixx, are you okay, miss your amusing posts about the chooks etc. so hope they are still alive and well.

Yes @Lizzie27 I did wear the dress but I wore a blue fleece with it.

    I miss @Obelixx too.

The church picnic wasn't very well supported, not many church goers in this small village and the weather wasn't very kind. They had wanted it outside but it wasn't possible. There were about 6 children though, which is 6 more than usual.

Hi folks, another cold, wet day here so no gardening.  Had to deal with ants in the conservatory and popped to see Bestie for coffee.  Finished the washing from the holiday and that's about it for me. Not a very exciting day at all.  Managed to avoid most of the Jubilee celebrations, not my cup of tea at all.  Just about to watch Wales v Ukraine.  Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.
