Lovely introduction to the month @Dovefromabove - thank you.
A bit brrr here.
The Jubilee Journal has arrived! The historical society I am part of publishes twice-yearly journals containing anecdotes from members, interesting looks at old local buildings, etc and we agreed that we would collate a selection from the past 25 years for a special Jubilee Journal. I put all the articles and photographs selected by our local historian together and persuaded Clays, the big book printers in town, to print it for us. It looks lovely! No glaring typos as yet, but there are bound to be some...
@didyw Your life now sounds very much like mine when I lived down in Suffolk ... always involved in doing/organising something
It's damp out there again ... I spent this morning in the studio ... this afternoon is devoted to tennis ... I recorded the Nadal -v- Djokovic match last night ... Shhhh! everyone 🤐

@Dovefromabove - when we first moved here I became the secretary of the hort. soc. until that had to stop due to members getting too old for it. I joined the historical soc. more or less at the same time - that is my favourite, everyone is friendly. I was on the town council for two terms - not so friendly but we did get through the much needed one-way system and I found money lurking for direction posts and trees in big planters. But I couldn't take any more so didn't stand again, instead joined the local business association (I had my little shop by then) eventually becoming Chair. And it is because I am in that position I have to work with other groups on things like the Jubilee.
Afternoon everyone, a bit late for this, but...rabbits!
And I haven't a clue why we say this on the first of every month - does anybody know?
Gave in to the Jubilee who ha and have tied two small Union Jacks to the trellis on the front of the house, that's my contribution to the festivities. The local Moravian church is serving Jubilee teas on Friday so we might go there for a treat.
I was disappointed in Lucy Worsley's programme on the Black Death last night, didn't hear anything I didn't know already except for the fact that records exist for the little Suffolk village of Walsham. I've seen some medieval records and they are nearly impossible to read, even if I could read Latin which I can't apart from a few words.
I've done yet more mortaring of the paving/walls/steps, just finishing off bigger gaps with ordinary mortar. I'm pleased with how it's turned out and just hope it does what it says on the tin and lasts - I would hate to have to do it again!
I was very pleased with my GP who answered a request promptly and when I rung the surgery yesterday to ask for copies of the results of previous bone scans, they immediately printed them out for me to collect this morning. I want to stop taking alendronate acid for a year as I've been on it for a long time. Time will tell if I've made the right decision.
Good evening all. Thank you to @Dovefromabove for starting our June chat 🦋
Brightened up this evening so potted up some tomatoes and did general filling of garden waste bin. Just warming a baguette to have with cheese, ham, grapes, etc. Waiting for the Depp/Heard trial result (verdict due at 8pm BST).
I hope you are all ok. Nothing major planned here for the BH weekend - fine by me.
Evening @AuntyRach, supper sounds nice, OH had a curry and I had lasagne tonight, both readymades so quick and easy as I've been busy in the garden again. I'm astounded at the Depp/Heard result but rather think they're as bad as each other. A very unedifying spectacle. Hope you enjoy a peaceful BH, we're not doing much either by choice.
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ It’s a beautiful morning … and hopefully that was the last of the chilly nights … the tomatoes and squashes will stay out tonight and we’ll plant them out tomorrow. More space in the studio!!!!! Hurrah! 😎
As for the Depp - Heard trial, I’ve not been following it very closely, but from what I have read I gather he’s no saint (no one expected him to be … it’s written on the tin) but she’s either completely bonkers or a malicious liar. It seems the jury agreed. They’ve both been awarded some damages … IMO her claim to be representing all abused women is downright insulting.
To move on to jollier things … we’re not partying or whatever this weekend, but I thought I’d mark today by making a Quiche Royale aka asparagus quiche which will be served with Jersey Royals … I hope HM would approve 😊

The only people who gain from that sort of trial are the lawyers and the newspapers.
We are planning to go out for an explore. OH is feeling depressed about the lack of information about a date for his operation. The receptionist says she's booked it for August but she hasn't heard from the surgeon. At least the sun has appeared.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
