So far they have all gone so much better than expected, with huge turnouts for everything.
I get the impression folks are just desperate to get together and have a shindig. Any excuse would probably have done. Your town must have a reputation for excellent events, so everyone is heading to you. Hope the rain holds off. It's cool and windy here but the early rain seems to have gone over now

Your village sounds very lively @didyw. Ours is having a BBQ tonight at the village hall. OH doesn't think he wants to go as he is worried there won't be enough seating and he'll be tired as we are going to the afternoon Tea Party in the church of our old village. We know more people in our old village and it's only 10 mins away.
I want to wear my red, white and blue Seasalt flowery summer dress but I don't know if it will be warm enough. 16° is forecast with sunny periods. Cloudy and windy at the moment.
I feel sorry for all those who get rained off for their street parties. I've never been to a street party, I would have liked our village to do one, but not tomorrow.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
When we had our street party for the Coronation it’s started of fine and just as they were putting out the food, it poured with rain and we had to have the tea in the church hall. In 1977 we were on Exmoor, Nice weather and we went up to Dunkery Beacon for the lighting of the fire.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
Afternoon all, Cold, grey, windy and it's just started raining. Have so many plants to get into the ground and was really looking forward to getting started but it's just too cold and miserable. Sitting inside drinking a cuppa and catching up on Silent Witness. No sign of any bunting up around here or street parties. Mind you I haven't been out and about so no idea what other streets look like.
The Undergardener has been marvellous ... he's planted most of the tomatoes and squashes, and made a frame for the Uchiki Kuri squash to climb up ... I've planted a couple of bush tomatoes in big pots and two mini munch cucumbers in smaller pots (cos I ran out of compost ... but they'll be ok until I get some more). I've hoed the other end of the veg patch where the lettuces and Swiss chard are ... the chickweed keeps growing every time it rains ... all due to one year when OH didn't know that he shouldn't be putting chickweed on the compost heap ... one year's seeds = 7 years weeds ... think we're on year 4 so far
We're not doing lots of jubilee-ification ........ I did loads for the earlier jubilees but back then I had young children at home and lived in a community where we all got together and organised stuff like @didyw and her team. When I left the OH I had to leave that behind ... this place is a good place to live but there isn't that sense of local community ... everything happens in the city parks etc and it's all very lively but we're happy spending the time just going for walks and enjoying the normal things of our lives.

Humid, overcast and muggy here. @floralies Poor you - too much rain - we could do with a drop here. No sun, dark skies and 30°C !! Dripping.
Managed to do some weeding too, this morning. Peppers, cucumbers and a row of tomatoes. Some fertiliser and loosening of the soil should make them feel good. Perhaps a little drink (them not me) tonight. I have a few more courgettes to sow direct as my other courgettes have started to produce tiny courgettes - but a pretty slack performance I must admit. Will finish weeding the other 3 rows of tomatoes tomorrow morning - a little bit each day, although it was nigh on 3 hours this morning.
I hope everyone is enjoying their street parties or just get togethers whether you like the Royal Family or not. I loved the Trooping of the Colour - all that pomp and circumstance - it is tradition, I tell my Italian OH who was quite amused by all the king's horses and all the king's men going round and round and round!! Great band square in the middle like a roman army!!
Enjoy your weekend; we have a Bank Holiday on Monday here - Pentecost Weekend so there are tourists everywhere!!
Had a lovely meal out with friends last night - my birthday - 4 hours later, we got home!! Good food. Good company. My mother (pregnant with me) stood up to watch the Coronation Parade (in NZ) and I decided to make an appearance the next day!!
@tui34 cooler here and overcast but looking stormy again. Quite a lot of damage in the garden from the hailstones last night I hope we don't get another lot! A couple of the tomatoes have lost their growing tips so will have to encourage side shoots and not take them off. Hope you are all enjoying your day.
Evening all, it turned out quite a nice sunny day here, after a very windy and damp start. I pruned our old inherited quince behind the old garage, bit of a squeeze getting up there, had to get the stepladder out and move a trellis panel for access so won't be doing it again in a hurry. I think it's getting really old and dying anyway, probably of thirst which I can't do anything about. Then after lunch (and another Pimms!) as I was in the mood I took the tops off an euronymus hedge to tidy it up.
I think there's some asparagus left to pick for dinner, one spear each probably!
Glad everyone's enjoying the festivities and the peace if not.
It was a lovely sunny afternoon at the church tea party but started getting chilly because of the wind at 5.30pm. Delicious and copious tea, sandwiches, sausage rolls, cheese straws, shortbread, cakes and scones.

Cold and grey here, but so much to do before our holidays.
