Been shopping. Spent twice as much as usual. Must have been OH's wine! He usually pays for wine.

Hi again, thanks for the comments re houses to visit etc. Local knowledge always useful.  We have been down the beach getting our heads blown off. We were treated to the sight of a  pair of Oyster catchers taking two youngsters down to the waterline to show them how to find food.
Went to friends Allotment,  just round the corner from where they live. It's the first time they have ever grown veg, so I have been giving advice (pontificating if you listen to Mrs AB). 🤣
We are eating out tonight too.

Hi all. Been away for two days, visiting daughter in Oxford. Longest journey we have taken since start of Covid. Had a lovely time, but didn’t enjoy the drive home. Very heavy traffic on M5, I wonder how much was Glastonbury traffic on its way home.
Feels like we were away for ages, despite only one night. So pleased to be back in the peace and quiet here though.
Pulled up a huge patch of brambles this afternoon, but had to stop as I saw a blackbird nest in the base of a fern. Three eggs. I was worried I’d removed some of the surrounding cover, so I decided to prune some berberis and put the cuttings near the nest for protection. However, when I checked the berberis, I’m pretty sure there is a long tailed tit nest inside it! I did manage to get some prickly cuttings and put them near the other nest, mother blackbird was sitting in there watching me.

How funny @Allotment Boy, we were also sitting on the beach today and found it very blowy so didn't stay that long. Decided instead to have a ride on the Bure Valley railway, one of OH's passions and easier for him at the moment than walking. Tiny little train/carriages but very pleasant just sitting there watching the world go by. We're meeting Dove at Blickling tomorrow.

I expect a lot of the traffic might have been Glastonbury related @Ergates, they had over 200,000 people there apparently. I read that the lead singer from Coldplay dropped into a local pub near Bath and gave an impromptu performance. Glad you enjoyed your visit to Oxford, I know it quite well as my mum's family lived near there and both my children worked there at one time.

Dinner tonight was scampi and chips for me followed by apple tart tatin and a Cromer crab salad for OH followed by waffle/strawberries/vanilla ice cream. The Ferrero Rocher
sundaes sounded interesting but were enormous!

Morning everyone.  Another cold start, but sunny.

My sister’s 86th birthday today so I’ve given her a call. Haven’t seen each other for years, but the phone is a good thing. 😁

Hubby had a 9am appt this morning, so he’s not back from town yet.

Glad you liked the photos Didy.  There are hundreds of different Eucalypts here, so I don’t bother to identify each of them. I’d need the leaves and gum nuts to be sure. It’s not worth the effort. 🙄🙄

    Morning all.

Enjoy your day @Lizzie27 and @Dovefromabove, I wish I was going with you. Don't forget the photos!

I want to make a start on sorting out my flower beds after they were crushed by the storm.

Hope @Lizzie27 and @Dovefromabove are having a lovely time this morning.
Bit overcast here this morning.  Looks like it might rain.

I have someone coming round to mine this afternoon to talk over how we coordinate our posts on social media for the town.

And things are gearing up on the Food & Drink Fair I'm planning for October.  Not just a street market like the Garden Market that @Busy-Lizzie came to - debates on food and farming in the theatre the day before, the start of a week-long exhibition in the church, food tastings in our local cafes, pubs and food outlets leading up to it, cookery demos on the day...  Tomorrow I'm meeting someone else who works in the local community support group for coffee to discuss what we can do to promote the local food bank and help those facing 'heat or eat' dilemmas.
