Hi folks, It's been raining steadily all day here which means it's much cooler. I don't mind as the garden really needs it. I don't have any plans today so will be just pottering about. Enjoy your day.
Good afternoon, much cooler and cloudy, we have even had a few sprinkles of rain but not enough to be any use other than settling the dust and helping with the cooling down. Interesting that in the heat the house feels cool, now it feels warm, it will probably take a day or two to equalise. This is in spite of having cavity wall insulation. We've been pottering in the garden this morning not much else going on.
Hi all, we've had spurts of quite heavy rain but nothing consistent. I did water the back garden late last night so it should be ok. Thankfully it's much cooler today. Might do some weeding in a minute. I am ploughing through the washing and ironing since our trip away as we'll need some of it for the next trip soon.
Had an 'oops' moment earlier, suddenly realized at 1 pm that we were supposed to be at our motor club monthly lunch, had completely forgotten about it - my brain was probably addled by the heat yesterday! It was an hour's drive away so had to text our apologies.
I really ought to sort out my clothes as well @Didyw. Got far too many, then forget what I do have tucked away. I was really, really pleased whilst we were away last week to be complimented by two different ladies in two different places over the top I was wearing - that's never happened to me before! I was so chuffed I've just ordered the same style in a different colour and a size smaller.
Cooler with rain on and off today. Went quite dark an hour ago so expected thunder but none yet.
Changed my living rooms round today so back in the lounge from the snug. Much better view of the garden from this room, although my large Ceanothus must have grown loads as I have to duck if going out from the patio door now! Will have to think how best to prune it so it looks ok from all angles.
I've spent some time today packing and loading my car. There are about 4 carrier bags of groceries, books and stuff, mostly for my children in France. I've been trying to wash the pigeon poos off the car but some are almost impossible, set like concrete. Don't want customs accusing me of bringing in bird 'flu! It's already there anyway.
I ploughed through ironing this afternoon @Lizzie27. All done and we are off tomorrow at noon to Eastbourne to stay with OH's daughter before taking the ferry on Monday.
OH has booked dinner in a pub tonight, save cooking and washing up.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Well the rain appeared here last night and has continued all day. Large difference in temperature. Daughter not feeling too good on Thursday evening after a busy gardening day in the sun, feeling worse yesterday so this morning I suggested testing for covid just as a precaution as no 'covid type' symptoms. Bingo - positive! Luckily we don't spend that much time in full contact with each other in spite of living in the same house, but we do share the kitchen, equipment, kettle etc (separate bathrooms) and due to the wonderful weather all doors and windows have been open all day. Also we still take precautions over incoming shopping etc. She must have been in unlucky contact with a carrier on either of her full days at work - Tuesday and Wednesday - or her half day last Monday (how long does it take to show up after you have caught it?) We have disinfected as many areas that we can and all work surfaces, door knobs, light switches etc and don't feel we can do much more right now - lots of washing of hands too! So fingers crossed now that she just gets a mild bout and that I steer clear of it. Safe journey tomorrow @Busy-Lizzie and @punkdoc I hope that you recover enough to take your holiday and enjoy it.
