Hmmmm ... pride goeth before a fall ... what could go wrong? I hear you ask ............... I could forget to put the yeast in the mixture ... I took a tray of canon balls out of the oven .....

Another batch of rolls is proving .... 🙄

We are back. The garden is a mess, battered to bits by the hail storm, leaves and debris everywhere. The dining room floor is flooded and the beautiful polished cherry wood table is probably ruined. Yet the roof looks intact from the outside. Cobwebs everywhere and everthing needs hoovering. No mobile phone signal. OH is tired and I feel ill.

Oh @Busy-Lizzie I wish we could do something ..........

You must both rest ... you've had two long days and you're not well ... the clearing up will happen, bit by bit ... there's no magic wand ... just do what absolutely has to be done and leave the rest for tomorrow ... and the next day ... bless you both ((hugs))

    Very bad luck @Busy-Lizzie
The main thing is, you are home and you are both safe.

I have been shopping for books for the holiday, might need plenty, the weather up there looks very poor for the foreseeable. Always love my trips to Waterstones, the staff are lovely and so knowledgeable.

Headache is back, but not nearly so bad, so may be ok.

Oh!  @Busy-Lizzie   At least it's not freezing cold - the table is just material so look after yourselves first and be thankful you are home safe and sound.   Tomorrow is another day.

@Dovefromabove   Pride cometh ......  It is raining!!  Light rain albeit some wet bits!!  Yoo-hoo!!

Get your strength back and then when you are feeling better the great clear up can begin @Busy-Lizzie.  Much love to you.

Edited to add: great buns @Dovefromabove!

@Busy-Lizzie rest first before you try and do anything. We had the bad storm and hailstones last year and I thought the garden would never recover, but it did, bit by bit. I know how disheartening it feels at the moment, made worse by the fact that you are not well. The only thing I would say is let your insurance company know as soon as you are able and take photos. I wish I was nearer to help.

Such bad luck for you @Busy-Lizzie and to be ill as well, doesn't bear thinking about. Hope you are both able just to go to bed and stay there until you feel a bit better. Could one of your children who lives nearest lend a hand or your nearest friends? People are usually delighted to be able to rally round - just ask for help with shopping or mopping up duties. Hopefully the cherrywood table may be salvageable. I've had quite a busy day, nipped out for the paper and bread batons for OH, drove my friend to the nearby hospital for her to drop off a heart monitor, brought her back here for a quick coffee and doughnut. She then dropped me off at the bus-stop so I could get into town for a haircut. I've also bought the next three year's worth of undies from M & S. Suddenly realized most of mine were pre-covid! Town was busy but not unduly so. Bit miffed because I had two new front door keys cut but they don't work so will have to go back tomorrow which is a pain. OH says I didn't take the master key with me so it's my fault.
