Good morning all 😊 ☕️ Glad the laundry is ok @Pat E … we’re more or less up to date with ours too. 😊
It’s overcast here and 17C .., apparently there’s a chance of some drizzle today … I think the squashes and beans will nevertheless need the hose pipe at their roots to replace the drying effects of yesterday’s heat and wind … I was too bushed too water last night and anyway I prefer to water in the morning as it’s not as likely to attract slugs.

That's the watering done ... looks like the woodpigeons helped themselves to some juicy lettuce leaves from the plants they can reach from the step down from the terrace ... grrr. Still, they were too fat and lazy to venture into the main part of the salad bed ...

Woke to cloud here today, but still very warm. Weird how the weather is so different, Hostafan, it was really sunny here yesterday, and so hot I had to stay in the house all afternoon. Might have rain here later, but I’ll believe that when I see it. I have my eye on a bramble patch to get rid of, might get to that this afternoon.
Morning all, early watering done, another hot one, OH is cutting some grass! I have found some GH shading, (GH not used in the summer) and put it over my lettuces to stop them bolting. We were looking forward to watching the tennis but we have lost our signal from the UK due to atmospheric conditions, never mind we have plenty of recordings to watch.
Gosh it was warm yesterday, 32°. This cottage didn't get too hot indoors, 23° in the sitting room, wattle and daub inside with an outer lining of concrete blocks must be quite insulating. Much cooler today.
We enjoyed the play last night and the meal before it in the pub with our friends. The pub was in our old village. We haven't been there for a while and it has improved and been decorated. The play was a farce "Rookery Nook" by Ben Travers. The actors forgot their lines several times and I could hear the prompt! The heat in the village hall was rather uncomfortable.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hats off to you @Busy-Lizzie for supporting the community by attending the play in yesterday's heat! I used to love watching our local am-dram group in our old village hall. The hall itself was falling apart (now replaced with houses) and so did the performances! All very Acorn Antiques. Despite a good soaking with the hose last night, a couple of perennials planted a few days ago still looked a bit wilty this morning. So they've had some more water and hopefully they will buck up. Watering with the hose is a messy business - it leaks in two places and despite our best efforts the hose will still spring out of the watering gun bit. It was new a couple of years ago and has never behaved itself. Today is sorting out all my clothes day. Bags at the ready - for the charity shop and for the clothes recycling bin.

Still here, @Dovefromabove, but not on top form. Getting a little worried as due to go on holiday in a week.
