@didyw … I’m falling asleep on the sofa before the end of springwatch … hence my shockingly poor social life … I blame a long line of farmers stretching back to Agincourt … and possibly beyond … but Thomas Strickland was the first one who did anything that got him noticed … and he’s some sort of distant gt gt gt gt ……….. 😂

@D0rdogne_Damsel wow, those treats look absolutely incredible!

Thank you all for the advice, you're all so very wise! I had a chat with my manager about it today (well, with both of them - I actually have two) and both said it's a great opportunity. I've always said we'd like to move back closer to our parents and it would mean we could be within 30 minutes drive of them if we went for the right place which would be incredible. The hours I think would be negotiable and I could certainly try it for a little bit and then see what I think. I am still waiting to hear from the other job - which would tie me down here for a few years - but I am definitely going to apply and see what happens if I get an interview. Hopefully I'll have heard from the other place before that interview so I'll be able to go in with a clear idea of what I have and haven't got.

Glorious day here today and rain tomorrow when I'm working an extra shift. Wonderful!

This heat is addling my brain! I thought I’d read back through the posts, and had managed to miss quite a few.
Treatment of your OH is truly shocking, @Busy-Lizzie Really no excuse for so many delays, it sounds as if they are abusing the waiting times, ie shifting him around on the lists and restarting the clock each time.  So very wrong. Have you spoken to the PAL at the hospital?

Absolutely boiling here.  Enjoyed my outing to David Austin Roses.  Didn't buy a rose, but have my eye on Centre Stage for the front garden.  Will have to look at location first.  Did buy a lovely clock for my Bestie who regularly takes us to the airport.  The hand has dropped off hers and I only know the minutes not the hours when I go there.
(must get a little hand put on this watch).
The roses were stunning but I was too busy enjoying them to take any photos.  Sorry.

The mercury hit 42°C this afternoon!!!  Shutters down - all closed and Aircon at 27°C.  Reading, reading and reading.  Not too much moving around - bottle of water at hand.  Apparently, the weather should break on Sunday.  We are to expect a decrease in temperature tomorrow.  It's been so hot, that the water in the hose is very very hot!!  So watering of garden forecast for 9.30pm onwards.
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

Evening folks,  hope everyone is keeping well and cool!

It's so hot the road has melted! So glad I pulled all the blinds and shut the windows before I went out,  managed to keep the house to 25c.
Also extra happy we have a snug in the basement.... cool in the summer... log fire in the winter...... sorry for your forecast @Hostafan1, I'd gladly swap!
Your pictures of your walk look lovely @Dovefromabove! Bet your glad you set out early!

Sending my best wishes to @busy-lizzie and OH, hope you get the best care needed ASAP!

    How's that greenhouse @raisingirl?

    Evening all.

    Scorchio here 😎 28.
Luckily I was in the air con hospital today because I didn’t stop! Had an early dinner (as only managed to grab a cereal bar for lunch), long shower and feet up with a gin now.

@Busy-Lizzie - sorry OH has had a set-back. A positive spin on it is that if it’s safer for him to be in a hospital with critical care facilities etc then be reassured by that. Just sad that he has more months of discomfort ahead. I hope he can be prioritised. I know from seeing how my father struggles with reduced mobility how it all affects so much more than just the condition doesn’t it?

    Take care all.

    Evening all,

Just bought a jacuzzi, impatiently waiting for it to fill up now. Charlie's done a BBQ dinner, glass of wine in hand, a Provence rosé, so all is well in the world. 36° here today, 40° tomorrow, sorry @Hostafan1.
@Busy-Lizzie so sorry for your troubles. One of my friends whose been on a waiting list for ages in the uk for a new hip has now moved back to France (technically) to have it done here sooner. Another complication I suppose when C is so close in the UK. Worth a thought...

Going to buy plants tomorrow, not happy with the lack of colour between spring and summer plants. Looking at Gaura, phlox and penstemon, maybe also zinnia, I'll be lucky to find them though.
