Today harvested some "volunteer" pink fir apple potatoes from 2 plants. Better than the original parent plants. Also picked possibly our last peabeans. Some for dinner tonight and the rest for the freezer.
The today’s harvest. We have now 4 marrows. 1 already went to neighbour, 2 were eaten, and now the last 4 ones. They are not as big as usually, but I’m glad that I got the plant through the heat and drought. Saved money compared to supermarket prices: 4 marrows x £1,50 = £6 8kg tomatoes x 400g a £3 = £60 10 chillies x 3 in a pack for £1,20 = £5 All together around £70 on the table Not bad.
Wicked @Simone_in_Wiltshire. And you appear to have the same DeLonghi coffee machine as us!
Clay soil - Cheshire/Derbyshire border. I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful
@LunarSea yes it’s one of the gadgets my friend was sure to need, but once more, was only used twice. 😀 I cook my coffee still in a cup and boiling water makes it to a proper brew.
I finally got a handful of runner beans. They were stringy. Normally by this time I am giving away carrier bags full. The victoria plums are threatening to break the branches, apples too. We had the first two sweet corn today, about two weeks before usual.
Never grown them but if they are the Trombochino ones they get a lot bigger so maybe they are not mature enough yet. As long as they remin firm they should be OK I would have thought. Someone on here will know.
@detspowder I'm growing those Trombocino courgette/squash this year. I have left them to grow until the skins darken to a buttery yellowish brown colour like BNS. If they're picked tender, they taste like courgette and when mature, more like a squash. HTH.

And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
Have just finished making 2lb of seedless raspberry jam this morning, hubby has eaten at least that much again over the last two months, so even though the heat did knock them back somewhat they have still produced. ( I only have four plants of Autumn and one of Summer varieties)
