I'm on holiday  :) People have been asking me if I'm going anywhere, to which my answer is 'outside'. The last couple of months have been too busy really - tied to my computer in zoom meetings and watching the weeds get bigger and bigger. The greenhouse needs to be glazed and then my time will be my own to get stuck in to the real gardening  B)

Hugs to @Pat E Hopefully she'll be fine and will go forward from here with a resolve to quit. I never started - different generation I think. It wasn't cool to smoke when I was a teenager.

Hope you're all doing OK and have had some rain. We've had plenty now - still hoping for some real warmth

If it helps @Lyn, I give you permission not to go out.

Hi everyone,  well yesterday's rain still didn't do much,  large waterbut only 2/3 full. Back from plots, soil  barely damp underneath. Will have to give back to water later.

I hope you have a lovely holiday @raisingirl. Digging the weeds out is very satisfying and will make room for more plants.

We were running out of some bits and pieces so popped into Morrisons which happens to be quite close to a small, but good, garden centre. I bought 3 Nemesias to replace the forget-me-nots in the front, some red nicotiana, some purple Busy Lizzies for the shady bed and another isotoma for the botanical tulip patch now that I've removed the leaves.

Yesterday's rain wasn't really enough here but better than nothing.

So glad your son sees how much his cat loves being with you @Pat E.
I have been out @Lyn!  I'm finding I can't do too many hours all in one go anymore so I have been popping back in for a sit down. (Not venturing too far inside the house because of muddy paws).  Pots mostly sorted and the big pot from over the back got out ready for the callistemon I bought the other day.  It was a bargain - £25 for a large plant.  It has been covered in bees all afternoon, so I was leaving it until last, but I ran out of steam so it is the only thing left to plant.
More planting tomorrow - the In Bloom team, of which I am part, is planting up all the tubs and planters in town.  Excited to see the plants that a local nursery has been growing for us.  Hopefully I'll have enough energy left after that to get the callistemon in its pot.

I went out,  took my list, found other more important things to do, took a few photos to remind myself of what needs doing,  realised I’d get lost in the jungle picked some more greens for freezing,  that’s about it,  try again tomorrow.

Fabulous afternoon with the Garden Club, surprised myself with plant knowledge, so many people asking what's was what and I knew the answers, credit goes to this forum. 😁 Really nice that gardeners readily accept the imperfections. Inspiring and motivating meeting. Also killed loads of Lily Beatles after they left, seems today was ideal conditions for hatching. 😖

BBQ dinner this evening, means I get to sit down and Charlie is in charge of cooking, that'll do me!

    Good evening all.

That's my kind of holiday too  @raisingirl, enjoy!

I've had a weekend with no work which is very rare so I've been digging my own garden!! Weeding,  lifting and dividing spent iris,  planting dahlias into the boarder,  seems early but they are big and hard enough! And by the looks of things my first sweet pea will be in bloom tomorrow! 😁

sat on the kitchen windowseat watching the birds and waiting for bolognaise to be ready with a cup of darjeeling.... more of the same tomorrow! 😎👍☀️have a lovely evening folks

Evening folks, another fairly busy day and yet another lunch out, this time at our monthly motor club meeting at a pub about 20 miles away. Unfortunately we live the furthest away and it means crossing the city which on a Saturday morning is tedious.
Still, we enjoyed lunch and the chat.
It's been a rather beautiful day, sunny and warm without being too hot, the wind has dropped and turned into a lovely evening. Sowed 4 rows of carrots, retrieved the power washer from the back of the shed and tidied up my work area. Kept getting hampered by my friendly robin hopping around my feet looking for the insects and worms I was uncovering, I think he's got a nest nearby. Sat in the orchard area amongst the long grass with a cold glass of pinot and just contemplated for half an hour.
Hoping to see my son tomorrow, he came up for the rugby today but is staying with a friend o/n. I asked him if he could power wash the paving for me as I can't manage it any more, so hopefully his headache the morning after the night before will be bearable!
OH is fast asleep on the sofa so I think it's time for bed.
    Enjoy your Sunday folks.
