Bed rest sounds just what you need @punkdoc - after all the excitement of yesterday. Hope it does you good and you can enjoy your trip tomorrow. Lovely skies @Pat E. Where I sit in our living room is opposite the window, with the tv to the left of it. That is where the sun sets and so often the cloud formations are more interesting than whatever is on the tv. Dull, a bit rainy, a bit cold here today. Just found a recipe for squash and chickpea curry (see, @Dovefromabove - I couldn't stop thinking about it!), so that is now printed out and will be handed to the chef in anticipation of something different this Friday (curry night). He does a lovely carrot and sesame side so hopefully I can persuade him to do that as a side.
My Laptop has been misbehaving this morning, Google wouldn't work, had a notice to say anti virus had crashed. Restarted it, changed antivirus password and it seems to be working now.
One of the mole traps has caught a mole, quite a big one. I don't like killing things but it's been making such a mess, also getting under plants. OH was getting quite upset. I hope it's the only one. I've trodden down all the near the surface burrows, we'll see what the lawn is like tomorrow. OH has ordered a roller.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I was at the garden centre @Pat E ... the plan was to buy three bags of potting compost for tomatoes, cucumbers etc and an Achillea 'Terracotta' ... but they didn't have their own brand one that I usually get, so I've bought just one bag of the Miracle Gro organic peat free to see what it's like. They didn't have that achillea either ... the manager seemed to think it would be coming in soon .... I shall keep my eyes open for it.
However, I had some vouchers in my purse, so along with one bag of compost and one of bird food (robin mix) I came away with three verbascums (Banana Custard) for the sunny bed in the back garden, and for the front garden a hardy Nemesia denticulata 'Celebratiion', a Geum 'Can Can' and a new (to me at least) type of Brachyglottis 'Walberton's Silver Dormouse' which is supposed to have more silvery leaves and a more compact habit than the usual Brach. 'Sunshine' ... I thought it would work next to the front doorstep which is a very dry spot compared with the rest of the bed, and the silvery leaves would work with the Rosa 'Glauca', Hosta 'Hadspens Blue' and the Sedum that are spaced out along that border. ... we shall see ...

Morning all, Lovely sky @Pat E I've been out in the garden sowed more radish, carrots, salad leaves and beetroot. Also changed the pots in the front garden. Removed the bulb ones and planted up some with grasses, nemesia, brachyscome and calibrachia. My Bestie (she normally waters my plants) is away when I go to Menorca so trying to work out what to do re keeping everything going if it gets hot. I think I'll ask my neighbour opposite if he would mind keeping an eye on things. He likes his garden so I don't think he'll mind. It's only really pots and greenhouse as the things I haven't planted out are on self watering trays. That sounds like a nice combination by your door @Dovefromabove. I'm thinking of planting another Hosta would like a big one that the slugs aren't too partial too. Already have Halcyon there and it seems to stay fairly slug free, any ideas folks. Hope you feel better soon @punkdoc
Flippin' 'echium!!! the promised rain is coming down like stair-rods!!! Bless the Under-gardener ... he grabbed a coat and rushed out and rescued the tomatoes and squashes without being asked ... I think the squash leaves would have been ripped to shreds if they'd been left out there ...

@Yviestevie my Hosta 'Hadspens Blue' never gets troubled by slugs or snails ... not sure why although I did once find a toad in that corner of the border ... but I never give it any special care and it just grows well and remains unscathed every year. Fingers crossed ... hope I'm not talking it up!🤞

Hi all. Another grey day here, with a very heavy downpour at about 1pm. Been taking it easy over the weekend, having lifted something awkwardly and done my back. No sudden movements, and very hard to find a comfortable position to sit or lie down. Really frustrating. Doing my best to assist OH with the decorating, but daren't do anything in the garden. Very boring. Having to take the laundry down to the utility room in instalments! Hope you feel better by tomorrow, punkdoc. OH has his birthday on Wednesday, nothing much planned but I’m sure we’ll pop out somewhere. I shall make him a trifle, his favourite pudding, but usually only gets made for Christmas and birthdays.
