Proper rain here now .... I can hear the butts filling up ... maybe we shouldn't have left planting out the lettuces until this afternoon ... it's not going to happen until we get back from MIL's at the weekend now ... this would've watered them inĀ  :/

Anyone want to run a Book on how many weeds will spring up in the currently bare veg patch, between us going away tomorrow and coming back Saturday evening, now that it's had a good downpour to soak it?Ā

Just checking in after a busy couple of days. The newly plastered ceiling has dried, and OH has started painting it. I’m in charge of cleaning up afterwards! Green bins tomorrow, and nearly full, after OH has mown the grass, and I have edged some of the ā€˜lawns’, and cleared back the areas round the shrubs and trees.Ā

I too have gaultheria growing up a 45 degree slope. I’ve just had to accept it, and put my energies into going round the periphery and try to stop it from invading the rest of the garden.Ā

@punkdoc,Ā the best revenge for your ex NDN is to revel in the pleasure of knowing he has gone, and he can’t cause you any more grief. Although, if there is some body that regulates tax consultants, surely they ought to know about his outstanding debts?

@ HostafanĀ , I would love to think that my OH would take such good care of me in similar circumstances! I have told my relatives that if I ever need to go into a nursing home, I want ā€˜cover these’ tattooed on my knees. Got to maintain some dignity.

@Allotment Boy ... I promised to send our surplus rain down to @chicky once our butts are full, so if you're quick you could start digging a culvert to divert some of it your way as it rushes downhil past you from here to herĀ  :D

Hello folks, still no rain here although it looked quite promising late last night.Ā  Telegraph paper says heavy rain tomorrow afternoon, local Racecourse one says not a chance! Nicely warm and sunny after lunch so I've weeded some more beds and filled up one green bin for tomorrow's collection. Still a lot more to do.

so often, I'm afraid, one has to leave dignity at the door , and collect it again on the way out.Ā
