Morning all, had to get up earlier (for us!) today as plumber was coming at 8 a.m. to fix the en-suite flush button. Yippee, it works and we now have a fully functioning loo again. I had been hoping to lay the mortar mix on the paving today but the weather forecast is for heavy rain this morning so will have to wait till tomorrow. It's quite windy out there as well so not very nice.
The joys of committee's eh @didyw. Hope you get it sorted. Sounds very familiar from the tales of woe when my OH was on a committee for a number of years. Rather you than me.
That's a shame about the tennis Dove, hope the insurance problem is resolved soon.
Sorry to hear that @punkdoc ... thank goodness for Under Gardeners ... mine's just popped down to the shops ... but not before he put the plants outside
Although I miss the fun of tennis, I'm not too concerned about the exercise element at the moment as in the summer there's lots of opportunity for that ... however I'm not a cold-weather walker or gardener and indoor tennis is an enjoyable way of working up a bit of a sweat and increasing the heartrate for an hour or two in the winter.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Hope your tennis gets sorted out @Dovefromabove - I wonder if some kind of signed waiver would sort that out? The insurance company is simply seeking to protect itself from financial liability. Sorry you are so poorly still @punkdoc. Can I have your under gardener when she has finished at Hosta's? Mine is reluctant to do anything strenuous because of his back. There is no-one in charge of events @Busy-Lizzie - there are instead a few organisations who do their own events. My organisation does the street markets. The idea with this was that all of these organisations came together to work jointly on the Jubilee. Some are better at communicating than others, some are more dictatorial. A district council appointee was charged with liaising between the groups to help where she can. But seems now to simply be doing the town council's bidding.
I think there needs to be a new committee set up for the Jubilee who can listen to all points of view, make the final decisions and dole out the jobs of who's doing what. But it's a bit late now and probably the bossy ones would have done their own thing anyway.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Excellent @Pat E for 82 going on 28!! I hope you are not too cold. Nothing that a good lentil spicy stew couldn't warm up. I like Reza's recipes - he has some good varied ideas. I also like roasted spicy chick peas instead of peanuts - for a nibble.
I'm going to try and watch Chelsea and hopefully see @chicky 's work.
Church or town councils and committees sound complicated @didyw - although I suppose when you get old crumblies together who know everything about anything and aren't flexible, it's bound to come to odds. The French for this are just the same - as I imagine any country in the world would be. That's folks!
Windy and cold today - @floralies - have you the same weather? Can you find someone that would be able to translate the instructions for you?
I am looking after my nursing neighbours dog whilst they have a welcome break in Spain over this long weekend here in France (Ascension weekend). I notice that my Border Collie has hidden herself somewhere. I think the racing around games got a bit on top of her this morning!!

Good BP result @Pat E.
Enjoy your lunch out @Busy-Lizzie. My waistline is having a rest from lunching out this week, I had four last week!
Still feeling terrible, so have given the under gardener a list of jobs to do.
