Grey sky and windy now, bit chilly. Washing not quite dry.
We've been watching the Chelsea Flower Show. I was disappointed with the best in show. It was lovely and cleverly done but I wouldn't call it a garden, more a landscape. The other one with top marks, that Andy Sturgeon did, I didn't like either. The high curved walls were too forbidding, I thought, although the planting was nice. I liked Chris Beardshaw's garden and the Morris garden by Ruth someone. I liked @chicky's Perennial garden too.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
We are having a lot of strong burning wind - it's sunny and hot. Wrecking the plants.
Ascension Thursday so this weekend is a long weekend with tomorrow being a school and bank holiday. Most other commerces are open for business. We had a nice paella out in the square at our fave restaurant - I haven't had one for ages - it was most delicious especially with a little chilled rosé to wash it down.
@punkdoc - you might be feeling under the weather, but your sense of humour is still working well!!
@Allotment Boy Glad the day went well for your bereaved friend. Even if he says he's ok - you never are, but a sense of normality is so welcome.
Evening all, it's getting windier here with some strong gusts now, definitely not nice. However I did manage to do some more paving work, the very laborious joint raking out. Had to dash out first to buy the special trowel to use which makes it easier. Half done and more to do tomorrow.
Enjoyed dinner last night with DIL who bought us some scrumptious Florentines from Waitrose and a bottle. She stayed the night and left early am. to go to work although we didn't hear her leave. She will have a long 2 and a half hours journey home tonight, mostly motorway.
Rats, OH has just got up to get me a drink and I forgot to put a new bottle in the fridge, will now have to wait for half an hour!
Hello folks … have had an afternoon making art along with some other artists … all new folk to me … very enjoyable and productive .., but I’m totally bushed 😴 🛋
Ill read back and see what you’ve been up to …
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I hope it’s going to warm up for the weekend?? Feeling a bit chilly tonight and looking out on a pathetic drizzle - give me rain or brighten up please.
Anyone have a favourite plant from the Chelsea coverage? I love the indoor displays. I always like the clematis but I don’t have a great track record with them - probably because I pot them (answers own question).
Evening all, It's been cold and blustery today, not nice at all. Art this morning and then over to Secondborn's for some nanna duty. Been looking for a caravan/cottage to take Secondborn and the boys on holiday but the prices and availability are proving to be challenging. Lots to do before going away on Sunday but haven't made much progress as yet.
Weather a bit unsettled here too despite promising good forecasts. This long Bank Holiday weekend is proving busy already, full all lunchtime yesterday and an 11 booked for breakfast this morning. Lots of cakes on order too. The poor garden is on the back burner again. 🙄
Good day to all. 🙂
