Oh, I'm so sorry Rubee- I forgot to say A very Happy Anniversary to you and Mr Rubee. Many congratulations. @Ladybird4 thank you for asking about the decorating . Erm.. it's kind of stalled for now- my husband is busy at work and so we've decided to wait until he has a few days off. The room has been prepped and paint sourced, just the will and the way to get it done. It's not a big job really.
Afternoon all. New credit cards arrived while we were away so I've been busy updating those accounts which require up to date credit card information to avoid missed payments and penalties etc

Dove - have you made your Panakelty with corned beef? (I think you can use whatever meat & veg are to hand but most recipes seem to favour either corned beef or bacon).
MIL makes it but she always refers to it as corned beef hash. In my family corned beef hash was more like bubble and squeak without the cabbage - bashed up cooked potatoes with chunks of corned beef thrown in and fried until slightly browned and crispy - but I daren't start a family argument!
It's one of those great economical dishes that housewives have been cooking up for years and that goes by a variety of names depending on the area you come from🙂
Same here with the credit cards @Topbird … seem there may have been a security glitch somewhere.
Today I went right back to the origins of Panakelty and used the remains of Sunday’s roast beef and gravy (I made extra gravy with that intention) 😋.
My understanding is that the corned beef version developed later with the arrival of the first canned corned beef in the early 1900s as it could be used to make a one pot dish that could be left in a slow range all day while the women were out at work all day, some for the first time, due to WW1.

No more fruit tree blossom it's all a brown mess. It was -5° last night and -4° the night before. It hasn't been so cold in early April in Aquitaine since 1947. No apples, cherries or pears this year, same thing happened last year. I think some other plants have suffered too.
I planted the cotinus, weeded the shrub bed and mowed the lawn.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Oh no Busy. That is dreadful news. I always hate the late frosts that turn my lovely, blowsy pink camellia flowers into tea bags on the tree. It also means less pollen producers for the pollinators.

Happy Anniversary to Ms. and Mr. Rubee. I wish you many more years together.
Bussy, I'm sorry to hear about frost last night. Same thing happened here last year. This year we avoided any major frost so far.
Monday passed quite well. After few rainy days, today was sunny and much warmer. Tomorrow after school I'll go to cottage and try to plant all my onions. Someone asked me about my spring break. Well, we have bit awkward free days. Spring breaks start at Good Friday and last whole week after Easter.
Chive I hope all went well with mums procedure yesterday. Wishing her well. Lily ordered the mat from the main channel better options for collection if needed. Ante I’m glad to hear Monday went well after your weekend break. My mind has gone blank.
