Good morning everyone .Lily I hope you are keeping warm and drinking plenty .The utilities rise must have been a real shock LB .Chive I hope you relatives are not too poorly with Covid .Debs I hope you find the hollyhocks with the colours you prefer .Rosie I hope you slept .
Hello all … LB that’s a crazy amount. Heaven knows what ours is going to be. Our fixed tariff finishes at the end of this month and we won’t be refixing for a bit … trying not to think about it. 😵💫 Hope all the poorly ones are feeling better soon, whichever lurgy they’ve got.
Better get ready for tennis … have a good day all …

Morning everyone, A grey windy day here too. @Ladybird4 oh heck that's a jump! Have no idea what ours is going to do yet, it's fixed till May. Feeling a bit flu like this morning, coughed all through the night. Throat and chest is sore and a fuzzy head. I'm going to have a lazy day. Hope your OH is OK @Songbird-1 Have a good day everyone, take care. I'm going to have another cup of tea.
Good Morning LB, Debs, Bluebells, Rubee & Dove and all to follow, LB I like the ‘It’s Okay’ list too, we all need to keep that in mind 🙂 Oh grump away about BG and the shocking amount they are asking you to pay 😳 I hope you can get this resolved with them, Debs It is nice of the landlords to arrange for the block paving to be cleaned, you do great care of the property and garden, Bluebells I hope you had a decent nights rest, it is sounding breezy here too today might be good day for the wet things 🧺 Rubee I hope you are both keeping well and the carpet is starting to dry, did you manage to get hold of any special vacuums to help?
Dove Enjoy your game of tennis today, hope your knees are not grumbling too much after, Hazel I hope OH is feeling better this morning, I’m pleased the test he did last night came back negative hope it stays that way and you don’t catch it🤞 SGL I hope you are feeling improved today and the sore throat and cough have eased, very difficult for you with your OH take care of yourself hope you feel better, Sis & OH both have mild symptoms at the moment hopefully it stays that way, they had been to London by train last week to visit an exhibition in the Natural history museum so could have caught it then.
Hope your day goes well everyone, I need another cuppa to form a plan of action 😊
That's weird, @Rubee and @Dovefromabove you weren't there just now. Morning 🙋♀️ Rubee, how is your carpet, hope its not so soggy. Morning @Chivetalking feeling quite lethargic, worn out now, just getting dressed this morning 🤦♀️ I'm going to have a lazy day.
Good Morning @star gaze lily SGL sorry to hear you had a disturbed night with coughing and have a sore throat & chest, a day of rest is just what you need ☕️ Best wishes to you, take care 🤗
SG Lily, take care of yourself, I hope you feel better today.
Hazel I'm glad your OH tested negative.
The French Covid figures are much worse than the UK at the moment. A lot of people were wearing masks in the SM.
I'm a bit achey this morning but better than last night. Had to take painkillers. Think I overdid it in the veg garden, but I wanted to get it done before going to Norfolk next week and rain is forecast for the next 3 days. I spent over 5 hours weeding, planting potatoes, cabbages, curly Kale and lettuces. CB, the handyman, came and did some strimming and mowing of awkward places and he cut up a dead tree in the orchard.

Lily i am pleased to say that the carpet is nearly dry . There is an independent thermostat on the radiator in the hallway and it’s been on high since the carpet was flooded. I did work hard carrying sopping towels up into the bathroom and ringing them out .At first they were so heavy OH had to carry them upstairs for me .However I am pleased to say that I can’t see any shrinkage or other damage to the carpet .No need to continue claim from insurance company .OH purchased a carpet shampooer and that pulled up any residual water . We will be going through the house shampooing all the carpets through Spring . We are still checking all possible water leakage area every day .
I fear that incredible price rise may be matched by more of us in the coming weeks/months @Ladybird4. As my lot insist on me being massively in credit, I'm looking forward to them charging me more whilst owing me money
A different BG engineer came on Monday. He opened up the boiler and swiftly admitted that his colleague had made what is technically known as "a f*** up". I admired his candour and he left after reconnecting two wires that clearly ought to be connected! I suppose I could complain about a weekend without hot water (not ideal when I had two games and a whole load of painting/gardening) but I doubt it would get me anywhere.
Eldest isn't feeling too bad and is working from home. Fortunately, we're incredibly posh so she can stay in her own bedroom, living room and bathroom whilst I keep to my side of the castle . I'm feeding her when summoned and, bless her, she's got the windows wide open and is wearing a mask when using shared spaces (hall/stairs/landing). I haven't tested myself yet as we're low on kits and I haven't got symptoms.
That's a huge price rise LB. Is it every month? Here we pay each month for 10 months then the 11th month is for adjustments, nothing 12th month. Your bill is about what I paid for heating oil for my huge house, the one that I was so relieved to sell, 500m2, 7 bedrooms. Maybe they have made a mistake.
