    Morning all.

Happy Anniversary to Rubee and Mr Rubee

Should be a nice day, but there is a frost.

I'm going to buy some more compost, I've got through loads here as a lot of the soil is clay and I don't have compost reserves yet. Still need to finish weeding in the shrub bed and veg garden before I go to Daughter 1's on Monday afternoon, ferry to UK on Tuesday. Also cotinus "Royal Purple", potatoes, cabbages, kale and lettuce to plant and flower seeds to sow in the donkey paddock when it warms up in a day or two. Not all the week will be available to garden as rain is forecast.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Morning all,  Had an early start today, early for me anyway.  A carpenter has come to fit a door between the conservatory and the kitchen and he wanted to start at 8.  Off to look after the boys this afternoon so no gardening for me.  Mind you it's cold out there so doubt if I would have ventured out anyway.
    Happy Birthday @WonkyWomble
    Congratulations @Rubee
Hope mums op goes well @Chivetalking

    Morning everyone,
Raining here and rather chilly this morning.
@Chivetalking hope all goes well with your mum's operation today. Sending very best wishes to you both.
@Songbird-1 agree with LB  're orchids.  Be careful how you water them too, dont get water in the 'middle' of their leaves and don't let them  sit in water .
@Biglad I too got exhausted reading about your very busy day, hope you slept well.
@Busy-Lizzie Hope you get some time to relax today.
@bluebellsintherain Hope Alfie is ok now. Your heated mat sounds great......did you get it from the big river?
@Ladybird4 take care while out today.

I've got a few unmentionables to do this morning shhhh 😉

Goodness me what a lot of celebrations going on today ... Congratulations Mr and Mrs Rubee 🥂 How lovely  :)

Busy here today, a loaf of bread is made, a big batch of soup is cooling ready to freeze, and a Panakelty is ready to go in the oven for supper ... and a bit of the unmentionable you know what has been done ... iin this house, if it's not done on a Monday morning it's unlikely to be done until next Monday morning ... I'm far too busy being retired to spend my time doing that sort of stuff   ;)

Chivetalking I do hope that your mum's op is successful and she's feeling much better soon, and  that all the walking and hobbling wounded are on the mend ... enjoy the afternoon folks.

Afternoon all. New credit cards arrived while we were away so I've been busy updating those accounts which require up to date credit card information to avoid missed payments and penalties etc

A very happy anniversary to Mr & Mrs Rubee🙂🥂. Congratulations to you both.

Re the Easter holidays - it was noticeable that everything in Scotland was reopening on 1st April after the winter closures. I think the Scottish schools broke up on Friday. I guess the Easter weekend is less than 2 weeks away - seems to have come round very quickly!

Dove - have you made your Panakelty with corned beef? (I think you can use whatever meat & veg are to hand but most recipes seem to favour either corned beef or bacon).

MIL makes it but she always refers to it as corned beef hash. In my family corned beef hash was more like bubble and squeak without the cabbage - bashed up cooked potatoes with chunks of corned beef thrown in and fried until slightly browned and crispy - but I daren't start a family argument!

It's one of those great economical dishes that housewives have been cooking up for years and that goes by a variety of names depending on the area you come from🙂

Afternoon all. I decided to bus it into town - to save some petrol - and with the bus pass its great. Got to the bank and after deciphering the ATM instructions I successfully paid a cheque into my bank account. I was very saddened to see the town centre - even more shops closed than the last time I went in. I just needed to see tumbleweed blowing randomly about for a western ghost town to be re-created.
Yvie I am glad to hear that your long awaited door is finally being installed for you.
Chive, I hope that your Mum's procedure has gone well today and that she does not suffer any great discomfort.
Janet, how is the decorating going?
T'Bird, we know it as corned beef hash. Mum used to put a pastry crust on hers and it was much loved by all, especially one of her grandsons who insisted she make it - just for him. Hot or cold it was delicious. The locals here know it as plate pie as it is always served as a pie - with shortcrust pastry.

Happy Anniversary Rubee and husband. Congratulations to you both.
Cold here and drizzly so on the sofa with the cat and a book trying to ignore the crashings and bangings in the dining room. Nothing noisier than a grumpy tortoise!
