Biros are "bic" in French.Ā  Ā Hot air balloons are called montgolfiers after the two French brothers who invented them.Ā  First flight 1783.Ā

What else would you call Sellotape?

Gardening in Central NorfolkĀ on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Yes I have heard it described as clear self adhesive tape. I think I will stay with Sellotape.Ā

But there’s all sorts of sticky tape, the brown paper sort, the shiny brown parcel tape, and all the ones that we used on our tennis racquet and hockey stick handles … not to mention all that multi-coloured passe partout we ā€˜framed’ our magazine pics of Georgie Fame with. Ā That clear sticky tape is known to all and sundry as Ā sellotape. 😊 Ā

Yep.Ā  Here and in Belgium it's sticky tape or Scotch.

However, as @Dovefromabove says there are all kinds of sticky tape including masking tape and others in the DIY world.Ā  Ā Lots of ways to be very precise in English or just a bit vague.

I was just going to say "Scotch" in France!

Thank you for your sympathy for OH. Not much we can do, for all we know the consultant has Covid, hospital only said it was in the Respiratory Department.

I've been outside sweeping the patio and path and soaking them in Pat.. Mag.. hope it works.

That is so frustrating @Busy-Lizzie and desperately disappointing for your OH.Ā  Ā Give him a hug for me.

Dance class is cancelled his evening.Ā  Someone drove into our teacher's car on her way home yesterday and she's having all sorts of scans for her spine plus a neck brace.Ā  Ā Not good.

Been damp here all day so I've been pottering about painting bits and masking off my mosaic ready for grouting, only to find the stuff I had in stock has all dried up so it'll have to wait till Thursday now.

    Have a peaceful evening everyone.
