Afternoon all, a grey but mild day here. Keeps threatening to rain but hasn't happened yet. I managed to get my new flower bed dug over and raked, then I decided an existing Gaura would have to be moved to make way for a Peony which I'd previously dug up and potted while I pondered where to put it. The Peony was growing fast so I didn't want to leave it any longer. I was supposed to be going down tomorrow to stay with my daughter to sort out her garden but she's just put me off for the third time (not good news) but I daren't make her feel pressurized. I've plenty to do in my own garden just now so it doesn't really matter.
Hope Possum is okay @Obelixx and hasn't hurt herself badly. A fall on stairs is always a shock to the system.
We've got Garden Club tonight, a talk on Monet's garden by a usually humourus speaker, a friend is going to join us. The first we've been to since the start of Covid. My DIL is also expected again soon so I'd better get a move on and do a quick tidy up.
It's been a lovely spring day, quite warm. I topped up the tubs with compost and sprayed the box hedge with fungicide again, but there probably isn't a cure. Not all of it is blighted though - yet.
We went to another thatched pub for a cider, pretty countryside. Blossom is coming out.
One more day here, then back to France. I hope my new daffodils have come up. I hope I can get into my house. My handyman was trying to lock the front door shutter and the key broke. It had been welded to make it longer.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Ticking along here, tearoom steady and I have managed to get the garden tidied up. Hoping to move some plants around next week, the weather forecast is promising next week.
Hope Possum is ok @Obelixx, a bit of a scare for her I'm sure.
@Busy-Lizzie, safe journey home and good luck with gaining entry, don't you sometimes find that one problem follows another.
I am looking a bit like a hampster at the moment, have an abscess on my gum. Have to take medication for a week before the dentist will do anything. The pain is not too bad, but the swelling and redness on one side of my face is a little scary looking. I am really hoping the tooth can be saved, he's already taken two out on that side, not many left.
A visit to Monet's garden is on my 'to do' list @Lizzie27, not too far from here. I hope you enjoy the meeting.
O.K. Jobs to get done before tomorrow, including a quote for a 'Tea Party' in conjunction with our local cinema who are showing an English film, Part 1 and Part 11 and want break in the middle. Coffee & Walnut cake a must.... other things to decide upon yet.
Good evening all.

Ooh, poor Damsel! Are you doing mouthwashing with hot water and a little salt in it? Will help to draw the nasty stuff out, and speed up the healing. ( just dont be tempted to put anything warm on the outside of your face, or the abscess might drain on the outside, not pretty) An extra pillow to raise your head at night often helps too. Safe journey, @Busy-Lizzie Hope you can get into your house! A friend keeps having problems with her electric gates. All fine until they have a power cut, not the best time to find the manual override isn’t working.
Gracious me @Busy-Lizzie … hasn’t time flown! Have a good journey and hope the key works 🤞
It’s been one of those days here … I’d planned to do some baking this morning, and I did get it done (bread and a big quiche for supper) but the phone hardly stopped ringing all day, and more people rang the doorbell today than in the whole of the year so far. On top of that I’d got washing to hang out and then get in again, and then some more phone calls … by the time OH got home at supper time I was completely bushed!!!
Ive struggled to stay awake all evening … so night night.

Poor Possum! Hope the chocs cheered her up. Sounds like everyone had a fun evening tonight with Garden Club, dance class and Barre au Sol (whatever that is!). Didn't realise you were off so soon @Busy-Lizzie. Safe journey and good luck with getting back into your house. At least you know it will still be yours. We've just finished watching Our House where the main female character returns from a trip to find new people moving into her house and her husband and all her stuff missing. Started off promisingly but a most unsatisfactory ending. Lovely sunny day today so got some gardening done - the sunny side of one of the beds weeded, watered and mulched. Night night all.
I've got a day off tomorrow, a 'planned power outage' on Monday all day and another day off on Tuesday, so probably won't have my computer on for a bit. Be good - have a good weekend and I hope at least all the bumps and scrapes and annoyances improve, even if the underlying situation seems unlikely to get better. I'm hoping a bit of gardening may provide some solace - the weather looks to be getting a little better next week

Morning all. It’s sunny! Hooray. Haven’t seen blue sky for ages. Hubby’s machine measured 1.9c this morning, so it seems that autumn is arriving.
Town today. Really just for a break from the house rather than urgent food shopping, but it’s just as well to keep supplies up, just in cast we decide to distance ourselves from people again. They are now talking about another virus which is spread by mosquitos. 😡 After all the rain, they are appearing outside again. We don’t have any pig farms around here, so we are probably ok in our district.
Hope your daughter is ok Obelixx. I really hate having a fall. It’s shakes everything up.
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ A hazy blue sky here thus morning and they tell me it’s 7C outside … I’ll be going to the farm shop this morning and apparently we have wind and rain to look forward to this afternoon … but the promise of some sunshine over the next few days and the availability of the Under Gardener to do some clambering and mowing means that we may well get some gardening done soon … 😊
