The wind and rain has arrived here. It’s quite wild out! I did manage a few hours in the garden earlier today. Spent ages pruning a massive Lavender. Many would say to take the old leggy Lavender out but I love how it sprawls onto the patio and the amount of flowers it produces is a joy in Summer.
Have a good weekend all, whether you are relaxing, working, holidaying or just business as usual.
Evening all, glad to hear you're home ( and in it) @Busy-Lizzie.
I'm wondering about offering a home to refugees @Obelixx, but I'm worried about long-term commitment? Do you know the requirements?
Just back from the cinema we saw Belfast, really, really good, beautifully shot and a superb performance from the actors, especially the young chappie.
Had a meal afterwards, food nice enough, but extremely poor service, got the wine order wrong, brought the the wrong starter, gave us someone else's drinks, the 'hostess' said goodbye and thank you before we'd had the main meal.... The waitress was wearing a mask (not obligatory, but was tucked daintily under her nose, what's that about? No atmosphere and, considering it was a restaurant next to a busy cinema was decidedly quiet. I wonder why?

What a beautiful cat @Pat E and she looks so relaxed lying there in the sun. You will enjoy her company for the week I expect. So glad that you got safely home Busy and that the key worked to let you in. Hoping that the appointment, when it arrives, for your OH's op will give you enough time for all your activities in France and the time to return to the UK to be with him. The wind here is blowing a hoolie and the rain is lashing down, don't think I will be sleeping too well tonight. Daughter is still testing negative for covid thankfully. Good night all, sleep well if possible.
@D0rdogne_Damsel my contact is with an organisation that arranges to host kids from the Chernobyl area for healthy holidays in the Vendée, 3 weeks every summer. There is very little info other than that we are expected to feed as well as house them and for a minimum of 6 months but maybe longer as no-one knows how long the war may last or when or if the French or regional govts will intervene to house people.
They'll also need Wifi to stay in touch with family and friends elsewhere. They may not speak any French but we'll have a number to contact for help if needed. We'll be able to apply to the central organisation on the Vendée for clothing and toiletries and so on. It's all very vague but I feel we have to do what we can.
@Busy-Lizzie glad you're home safely. Surely you can use another PC to book return tickets?
Pixel looks very comfy @Pat E . Hope she enjoys her hols.
Hope your daughter continues to test negative @AnnaB.
Wind getting up here now too @AuntyRach and set to be very wet till mid morning.
That's OK as I have a teeny bit of painting to do, 2 mosaics to grout and the door handles to fit on the new door. Planning to spend my afternoon gardening tho.
Good night all. Sweet dreams.

I’ve had a laugh. After sitting on the veranda with Pixel and my colouring book for a couple of hours, she wandered up to my art room and has crashed on my chair, 😂. She’s not used to all that exercise, since in Canberra, she never gets outside the house. Maybe she’ll lose some weight down here. 👏👏
Overcast and 8C here. Exciting news … niece (at uni in Portsmouth) is visiting friends up here at the UEA next week and she and two friends are coming here for a meal on Tuesday. Two don’t eat meat so I’ll do a big creamy potato and parsnip bake with a nutty topping … so that’ll work with or without roast chicken. We’ve still got some Cavalo Nero in the garden so a big dish of greens, and some herby veggie stuffing balls should fill some rugby and judo-playing students up. 👍

Morning all. It's tipping with rain. I was hoping to do some weeding in the veg garden.
What other computer @Obelixx? I only have one and it's all set up how I like it with all my info, photos and passwords. OH organised it for me, I don't know much about that sort of thing. It's over 10 years old and I dreaded that it would die one day. I need it for banking and declaring my handyman's salary, doing my tax return, buying ferry tickets, keeping my photos on etc.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hello @Pat E … somehow I missed your post … glad you and Pixel are having fun 😉
@Busy-Lizzie … how frustrating about your computer… I presume you’ve done the usual thing of turning it completely off, leaving it ten minutes then turning it back on again?
