I've just given the mower a once over, mostly cosmeticĀ  brushing off cobwebs etc, plus checking oil, lubing cables, wheels and so on. I cut the front grass,Ā  it really needed it and went over the back, though you'd hardly notice it. I always find it odd at this time of year that the front grass grows more vigorously than the back in spite of the front facing North.Ā  It must get the early sun from the east as the front is much more open than the back.
Don't want to upset you @Hostafan1 but I got unleaded at £1.53 in a Morrisons on Thursday on my way back from Capel.  My local Sh*ll  was  £1.63 that day and was £1.69 2 days later.  As you say methinks some profiteering going on.
Isn't it funny that rural filling stations , with less competition are always more expensive then their urban counterparts.Ā
Morrisons Siansbury's , tesco asda etc pay one price for petrol, why is it dearer in Bude than in London?Ā
In essence rural areas are subsidising urban areas.

I don't know about where you are but I know in parts of rural Scotland they claimed it was because they had to use smaller tankers, on the narrow roads! Central London is more expensive, apparently there is a garage in Knightsbridge already charging well over £2 for both petrol and diesel. No doubt they're claiming its because of congestion charge.

Afternoon all, was planning to go in the garden this morning as it's a lovely sunny day but woke up at 5 with severe IBS so had to stay in bed with a heated back patch dosing myself up with Buscopan.Ā  Felt a bit better by lunchtime so I've sorted out the seed trays etc and decided what to sow first.Ā  Just need to get the compost into the conservatory to warm up and I'm ready to go.
We live on the edge of the Black Country and some garages in the Stourbridge area are charging 1.80 for diesel, the cheapest we could get for unleaded locally was £1.50 but Hubby had a voucher so got it for £1.40.

Particularly you Hosta as your have a very predictable daily routine at the moment.Ā

I would shut gates when you’re going out and use the sort of alarms you can fit on allotment sheds.Ā

We are not locking our tank lid, Ā if Ā they can’t get the padlock off quick enough they’ll cut a hole in the tank, Ā  Heard that many times, Ā that will cost more to replace than the contents. Ā On police recommendation we have 6’ High Berberis around ours.Ā

    TBH I think it’s worthwhile fitting a noisy alarm and/or CCTV.Ā

There was a spate of oil thefts a few years ago here. A neighbour had some oil stolen but at the time, just thought he'd used more than normal. Bought another load which then leaked out through the hole that had been made. Apart from the financial loss of a whole tank of oil and the tank, it also killed a lovely Lebanese cedar tree that grew close by. They had their new tank located much further from the road, as did a lot of others round here - they all used to be close to the road to make it easier for the delivery truck. Now they're all tucked round the back of the farmhouses

    Morning everyone.Ā

Sorry to read about the oil problems. Ā One of our farming neighbours had that problem a few years ago, but the crim has since moved elsewhere. He also had a problem of an idiot putting water in the fuel tank of his tractor. That didn’t go down well in the district. That idiot has since moved as well.  😔

Cool start today. Low cloud as well.Ā

Pixel has been put for a stroll and nibble at some grass, which she likes, then sat on the back wall watching a large buck roo wandering around the hill. He was having a graze of our grass, so she obviously had a bit of fun watching it, but was poised ready to shoot around to the front veranda in case he moved too close. I, of course, kept an eye from the kitchen window, on what was happening in case I had to intervene. Ā The Roos are very nervous of humans, so he would have taken off if I’d gone out there. All’s quiet now, so I assume she’s back on my chair where she can watch in comfort. Ā Luckily, she doesn’t know that this is the day she has her annual visit to the vet in town, otherwise I’d have trouble finding her hiding behind curtains etc. Ā  I must admit that it was rather nice having a warm soft body resting near my feet when I woke up this morning. 😁
