Great news about Nazanin, I hope she gets home safely.
This morning we went to a big toy shop in Libourne to choose a late birthday present for Adam. He chose a police car and an ambulance because of the noise they make.
Then we went to a place called a mediateque which was like a library for adults and children, but the children's bit had lots of toys and games and play areas with squishy seating. His brother came too. The car park was beautififully done too, beds planted with shrubs and trees. There is a lady Maire who has big plans for a village that is turning into a satellite residential town for Libourne. Lots of affordable housing being built, tennis courts, open air exhibitions in the grounds of an old chateau etc.
There were grape vines along the rather ugly road to Libourne, Pomerol wine. Not romantic as one imagines wind vineyards to be. Electric cables and pylons, ugly commercial buildings opposite the vineyards.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
That is good news Dove. But it could have happened so much sooner if the UK govt. had paid the debt it owed Iran sooner. The library sounds lovely @Busy-Lizzie. I'm just here idling my time until my visitor arrives - early to late afternoon.
Morning all. Light dusting of Saharan sand on the car this morning but the rain will soon wash it off. Very cloudy sky but it is a pale yellow rather than the usual grey so the garden will be getting a light sand mulch today.
We had it in SW France too. The sky went yellow and the cars are covered with muddy sand. I had to wash the outdoor chairs and table yesterday.

We have the Sahara dust here too, the sky was a very odd yellow orange before lunchtime. We have rain but not enough to wash it off the car windows, so I have given them a swish off with water and a car wash brush, as we could hardly see through the side windows. Â
Afternoon all, no yellow skies here only grey ones as it's been raining hard all day so far. Put paid to gardening so is giving me an enforced but welcome rest day.
It is good news about Nazanin, I gather she's already on the plane to the UK, together with the other detainee. We too, expect an announcement about Iran oil to be made in the not too far distance but needs must I suppose. The delay in paying the debt to Iran was no doubt due to the complications regarding international sanctions.
It's funny how most little boys love their noisy toys @Busy-Lizzie, even some of the big boys still do!
Hope your visitor has a good trip over and you enjoy your time together @didyw.
Oh dear, just heard that an old acquaintance of ours died last week, one of our Austin members, in his 80's and in poor health so not unexpected. A lovely Scottish man with a delightful accent and wicked sense of humour.Â
Just back from La Roche-s-Y with Possum after depositing stuff at the Recyclerie, ordering two pieces of glass for pictures, buying some mosaic tiles and raiding the fabric shop which has everything at 50% off cos they're moving to a new site.  Possum wanted fabric to make a jacket and, of course, they didn't have what she wanted but we found 2 things she liked.
Thirsty work so we then raided the Vietnamese store which has Old Jamaica ginger beer in its chill cabinet. Some proper soy sauce and spices jumped in the basket too.
It's still very murky out there with more Sahara sand and spits and spots of rain. Should clear by tomorrow pm, they say. Every car is covered in a layer of muck. I reckon the car washes are going to be busy this weekend.  Wouldn't bother doing yours yet @B3.
