It's been wet and windy here most of the day but cleared up an hour or so ago so we have some weak sunshine.   Chooks have spent the day in the polytunnel which does make it easier for catching and dosing them.  They also love the new recipe for rice cooked in a strong infusion of garlic and thyme.

Have just had a visit from chappies to see about fixing a couple of leeks in our roof, securing some loose slates, waterproofing the ridge, cleaning the gutters and treating the whole roof for moss.  3000€.   Ouch.

New door between kitchen and pantry/annex has had its second coat as has the boot cupboard so that leaves just the fiddly wooden bits of the metal chairs to do - 36 back strips and 12 arm rests - and then a tray and a picture frame.   Marathon.

I shall go and have a shower and then cook a Keralan fish curry for dinner.

Possum is OK thanks everyone but feeling stiff and battered.

Hope all has gone well today @Busy-Lizzie.   Lovely that you get Pixel for a while @Pat E.  Hope the meds kick in fast @D0rdogne_Damsel.

Let's hope we all get some decent weather for a bit of gardening this weekend.  I have cuttings to take and roses and clems to prune.

  • Evening all,

Thank you for all your kind wishes, not in pain, a bit uncomfortable, and look a bit lob-sided, but all bearable.
Good news @Busy-Lizzie, hope all goes well.

Shame about the disruption to family celebrations @AnnaB, hope grandson doesn't get too ill.

Off to watch another Hercules Poirot film, Murder on the Nile.

    Have a good evening all.

We saw the lung consultant and he said OH is fit to have the operation, in fact, he seemed a little puzzled as to why all the tests had been ordered! Especially as he has no symptoms. The scan had shown a little bit of emphysema and tiny scarring in the lungs which the doc said were probably from years ago when OH smoked. His lung function tests were better than average, doc was surprised they were so good at his age. All that singing in the choir was good for him. He does not have pulmonary hypertension, thank goodness, which is what a previous doc was fussing about. His ECG problem was probably caused by stress. Huge relief, but it has caused an extra 9 months of pain and worry. Now we are back to waiting for an op date.

Up early tomorrow to fly back to France.

    Good morning all … 😊 ☕️
Really good news @Busy-Lizzienow at least you can go back to France without any concerns on that score. I think that there’s been a big focus on lung conditions because of Covid because of the protocols in place around the use of ventilators. Fingers very crossed that he gets a date for his op soon 🤞

  • Morning all,

A bit wet and drizzly, but ot cold and not windy like yesterday, happy to see so many spring buds and splashes of colour out that.

Baking Day for me today again, trying to get ahead, Coffee and Walnut and the Bakewell Tart are the favourites, about 10 portions of each a day at the moment, definitely a lot of comfort eating going on. We have also started selling Hot Cross Buns (Paul Hollywood recipe) and they are selling surprisingly fast, after people have them in the tearoom they are then asking to take some away with them as well, a good sign of course. :)

Anway, time for Wordle before I get going on all that.

    Have a good day all.

Morning all from a not so sunny Paris 🇫🇷

Had a brilliant day yesterday, with a happy afternoon wandering round the Musee d’Orsay - possibly my favourite gallery in the world!  Then celebrated Chicklet’s 25th birthday at the very top of the Eiffel Tower.  Felt a bit wobbly at first but we soon got our sea legs. Today we are going to do some more exploring - so much to see.  But first, time to find coffee and croissants 🥐☕️

So pleased OHs op now has the go ahead @Busy-Lizzie …..about bl###y time.  Fingers crossed he gets a date very very soon.

Have a wonderful time and give our love to Paris @chicky … it has some special memories for the two of us ❤️

@D0rdogne_Damsel coffee and walnut cake was Pa’s favourite … a birthday tea of sausage rolls and coffee and walnut cake made him a ver happy man 😊
