Hello @AnnaB ... hope everyone's getting better very soon and that the youngsters haven't spread it around too much.
Talking of birthday celebrations ... we've had a load of family Big Birthdays over the last couple of years ... my big one, OH's 50th, MIL's 80th, niece/god daughter's 18th, and two special friends' 50ths as well ... none of which have been celebrated properly ... we keep saying we'll have one big family bash in the summer, but I've a feeling that with the current world situation that may well be put on the back burner again ... time moves on and the impetus wanes.
I agree re the thyroid testing @didyw ... in my early 40s, when I was 'between homes and between GPs' and had to see one for an injury, he said that when I was settled with a new practice I should request a thyroid check as he thought I may have a problem.
So, six months later I asked at my new practice ... the doctor there was very dismissive and said there was nothing wrong with me that a bit more exercise and fewer pizzas wouldn't cure!!! (At that time I was walking nearly 3 miles to work and back every day and never ate pizzas).
My weight and BP kept going up whatever I did and, fed up with being berated by the doctor I stopped going for my regular BP checks etc. It wasn't until about two years later, when my reactions had slowed so much I was thinking of giving up driving, and I had such awful periods that I was very badly anaemic, so eventually I went to the doctors and found 'my' doctor had been replaced.
The new GP straightaway did a load of tests, phoned me at work the next day and asked me to call in on my way home!!! My thyroxine levels were almost non existent, my BP was through the roof and I had an erratic heartbeat. etc etc etc. I was signed off work immediately and started on a gradually increasing dose of levothyroxine ...
I've been on 150 micrograms for past 20+ years ... lost a huge amount of weight (still chunky but I'm a Suffolk Punch, not a racehorse) and am immeasurably 'better' than I was in my 40s (which is crazy). The thing is being hypothyroid for so long did do some longlasting stuff, like affecting my tendons/ligaments etc (hence my joint problems). But hey ho, I'm ok compared to a lot of folk my age ... which is 27 of course, isn't it
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
That's bad luck @AnnaB, I hope grandson will enjoy the treat when it happens and that you manage to steer clear of Covid.
The hospital have rung to offer OH an appointment this afternoon with a different consultant, at least he gets to see a doctor about his results, hopefully
It's sunny outside, so far.

A wild excited sky today - big puffy dark clouds, no blue bits and a blustery wind. March weather!! A deluge is forecast during the weekend.
i did plan to have a restful day but may sow a few veggie seeds this afternoon. Not really the right weather for it. We are invited tonight for a meal and to watch the 6 Nations France/Wales Rugby match.
@D0rdogne_Damsel Nothing worse than an abscess. Ear, tooth or gum. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in and get the swelling down. @didyw Barre au sol is basically ballet exercises but on the floor. Good for the brain as your body is coming from another angle. The exercises (sequence) she gives us, are fairly straight forward.
I hope you all have a pleasant afternoon some in the sun - some not! Tui
Now, that's strange! I had written something to @Busy-Lizzie (in the middle of the message) and the message hasn't kept it ....but it said (if I remember) Glad that you will be there for OH's consultation this afternoon. Have a safe trip home and entry!
And to @AnnaB Hoping you don't test positive for the forthcoming birthday celebrations.
Hi again everyone. We’re having an early night because our son is bringing his cat down to us and he’s always an early bird. We will have Pixel for a couple of weeks 👏👏 while he is travelling to Melbourne for work And - he is doing a photo shoot on some sporting people I think. Besides she is due for her annual injection and we always use our local vet.
I’m looking forward to having her. She’s such a sweetie.
Afternoon all, been listening to chainsaws this morning. Our neighbour is having some work done - huge laurel hedge getting a serious haircut, cypress as tall as their house and 6 feet from their front door taken out and some beeches and holly which were swamping my garage roof now gone as well as some beeches on our side which were shading their garden. That should brighten up their life quite a bit.
Apart from that it is a very soggy day so staying indoors. Managed to print out W'rose vouchers to scan in the shop as I don't have a smartphone and have no need for one. That wasn't much fun as I couldn't sign in to MyWaitrose for a couple of days for some reason. Looks like their IT crowd are just like the TV series but just not funny. M&S are apparently going the same route, use an app is the only option.
Thank you @tui34. The handyman says he doesn't think the end of the key is in the shutter. I have another key and his phone number in case of emergency.

Hi folks, Apart from my walk this morning, I'm having a lazy day. It's been raining steadily since before breakfast so rather relieved I wasn't driving down the M5 after all. I hadn't realized just how tired I'd got - too much gardening lately, plus DIL staying overnight (although she's no bother at all) and our garden club meeting. I'd forgotten just how gorgeous Monet's garden was, lovely to see lots of slides and an amusing commentary by the speaker.
Fingers crossed @Busy-Lizzie, that's brilliant news the appointment was re-arranged so soon. OH has now been told he has to wait a minimum of 6 months for his op but it may well be longer - I think we already realized that.
Commiserations @D0rdogne_Damsel, sounds painful and you've had quite enough to put up with lately. I'd hazard a guess that you've got really run down over the last year and could do with cutting back on the hours you put in.
Time for a cup of tea I believe. Do wish I'd bought the doughnuts I looked at in the bakery this morning. Oh well, more saved calories I suppose.
