@Busy-Lizzie I'm so sorry to hear your OH's appointment was cancelled at the last minute. What a b....r! Could he arrange a private consultation with the same chap? That might speed things up a bit.

Another chilly start to the day, just finishing a coffee and then will go out to play. I want to dig out the last big stump this morning although my shoulder is complaining loudly. I have a back and shoulder massage booked for tomorrow so that should help.

Enjoy the rest of the day.

One of my tutors at uni. was a real pedant. I remember him correcting me by saying things can only be 'different from', not 'different to'.  He would have had a fit with 'different than'.

Were you ever tempted to open his door, shout 'should of' and run away?
Aaargh, no!  Perhaps I should have?

    Hi all

Very sorry to hear your news @Busy-Lizzie

It is a beautiful day here, but ground is frozen solid, so a looking day, not a doing day.

An old friend of mine has just had to leave Ukraine, no longer safe, the Russians appear to be deliberately targeting medical facilities. I know this will sound stupid to most of you, but I so wish I was there.

How can you lie there and think of England

I , for one, am very pleased you're NOT there.

Glad @raisingirl took the plunge with the greenhouse.
Sorry to hear about the cancelled appointment @Busy-Lizzie
But now I must be away to my art group...

Just spent an hour in the garden, and filled a green bin. Lots of leaves and twigs cleared off the path, plus a very satisfying attack on the gaultheria which is threatening to take over the garden.
Ill have another go when we get back from Waitrose. I’m going to have a fancy afternoon tea for tomorrow’s birthday, so I’ll pick up some clotted cream, and a box of fancy macarons. Better put a bottle of fizz in the fridge to chill!

It doesn't sound at all stupid @punkdoc ... I sure those of us who've grown to know you over the years would be surprised if you didn't feel like that ... but for your sake, and Moira's I'm so glad that you can't be there. I can only express my utmost admiration for those who, like you, have risked their lives in the past for folk they don't know, and for those who are doing it now. Complete and absolute heroes, every one of you.

    I concur.
I knew you'd put it far better than I.

Just a bit more verbose than you today @Hostafan1 ... unlikely as that may seem  ;)

P.S.  you could've waited until I'd corrected my grammar before quoting me 🤣
