My friend who lent me the car works for a recovery company. His boss let him use the VAN to bring me his car.
He's on call for the next 3 days, so doesn't need his car. ( at least I HOPE he won't need it)

Yes @floralies or some isobétadine but not antiseptic creams for hoomans!

Pottering sort of morning so I can just paint this pm.  Modern paint for wood dries so fast these days I can't afford to put the roller and brush down for more than a minute or two.

Mosaic tiles sorted for tomorrow's class.  Flying geese pieces sorted for patchwork - edging for a cloth to go on the military chest.  Belly pork and carrots prepped for this pm.   2 pairs of ankle boots polished.   Just need to have lunch, do the chooks and pick some kale and PSB.

Glad you're OK @Pat E.  Hope everyone with recent storm damage is recovering.

Thanks @Obelixx that what I thought. I don't use antiseptic creams at the best of times.
  • It's been quite a convoluted morning so far ...  the washing is on the line, flapping away  merrily, and I've got supper on the go.

I had bought some lamb shanks  home from the farm shop the other day, and was going to do a spiced aromatic dish with lentils and honey and lots of turmeric ... however, someone (mentioning no names) seems to have used up all my turmeric on his breakfast porridge ... both jars!!! ... including the secret hidden one ... and put the empty jar back on the shelf!!! We have NO TURMERIC!!!

He could go down to W'rose for the second time this morning ... he did offer ... but I have waved a magic wand  and the lamb shanks, some juniper berries and sprigs of rosemary are sitting in half a bottle of Pinot Noir that's been reduced a bit along with some softened onions, celery and carrot, and a couple of bruised garlic cloves. The house smells wonderful already and we're not eating until this evening ... we'll have it with creamy mashed Maris Pipers and Hispi cabbage. 😇

And now I'll add turmeric to my sainsbugs order that's coming tomorrow ...

I decided to make mushroom stroganoff in the week, only to discover - after having done all the veg prep - that we had no yoghurt (OH ate it all the day before) and no paprika. Doh. Ended up with chicken and mushroom stir fry instead

    Afternoon all.

Been absent from Forkers for a bit.  I tested positive for Covid in the early hours of Monday morning (last time I visit a snowdrop garden 😳) and have been incarcerated in our bedroom ever since.  It has its own bathroom, and food is delivered to the door.  Don’t think Mr C ever realised before just how many cups of tea I need to get me through a day. So far I don’t seem to have infected anyone else, and this is Day 7, so fingers very crossed.

Been pretty grotty - headaches, fevers, cough and blocked nose, but now beginning to feel human again.  And the dreaded red line is getting fainter, so hopefully the end is in sight.  Worst bit was losing my sense of smell (completely) for 3 days.  That was really weird.  Plus it scares you - if its attacking my nose like that, then what is it doing to the rest of me.

Anyway, thank you for unknowingly keeping me entertained for the last week.  You have been a welcome distraction from the news.
  • Oh poor you @chicky ((hugs)) (through the door ... of course).  Hope you're feeling very much better very soon .... how's your sense of taste?  A friend who Covid in March 2020 has only just got her taste back properly ....... she said that some things tasted absolutely vile for a very long time.

    Poor @chicky.
Just shows you it’s not over yet. Very glad you are feeling better now. That’s rather put me off planning some sort of birthday trip for a weeks time. I was starting to feel a bit braver. Back to the tasks after morning coffee. OH is painting skirting boards, and I have to be on hand to wash the brushes as he can’t be trusted to do that without making a mess. I shall go and remove the cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. Where are the spiders that are creating them? Never come across them!

    Morning all.

So sorry you have Covid @chicky, I hope you feel back to normal soon. I wondered were you were but thought I'd missed something.

Sunny and cold here. No plans for today but OH has mown the top lawn, which isn't very big. I cleared all the fallen bits of trees from next door yesterday. He can manage that despite his hip. He has lung functions tests at the hospital on Thursday.
