Hi folks,  Sorry to hear about the car @Hostafan1 Don't worry too much about your OH you can only do the best you can.  Mom used to get grumpy if I didn't manage to visit but she soon got over it once I was there. She would have been 100 on the 15th of this month.
The man came to do the garden and worked a solid 8 hours.  I've been out there today and removed all the leaves from the roses and cut back some of the things he didn't manage to get to.  Hubby has mowed the lawns and I'm feeling much better about things.  Secondborn has managed to plough through 300 pages of bank statements supplied by her soon to be ex (with the help of Firstborn).  He has 19 bank accounts all in his name but the money in them is half Secondborn's  Lord knows if it will ever get sorted out.
I've been trying to get out and about a bit more so we went for a walk around the local park yesterday, lots of wildlife on the lake.  Had to have quite a few rests as Hubby still struggles but we made it and felt better for it.
Hope everyone who is under the weather feels better soon.

  • Glad today is a bit brighter @Yviestevie .... 🌞 ((hugs))
Nineteen bank accounts?  😵  a real PITA to sort out, but if they've got money in them that's so much better than if they had overdrafts!!!  :open_mouth:

So pleased to hear you sounding more positive, @Yviestevie.
I find exercise, however minor, makes a massive difference to my mood, but gardening is even better.

Afternoon all, I've had my little sis staying here so haven't had time to read back, hope everyone's reasonably well and looking forward to better weather soon. It was a bit frosty this morning but we've had sunshine ever since. However there's a chilly wind so I didn't feel like gardening.

The garden's looking good though, with masses of purple crocus 'Tommies' and blue dwarf irises, snowdrops, blue squills, daffs and primroses. The orange witchhazel is still going strong and pink cherry blossom is showing. Hyacinths will be next and the tulips later.

Just read in the paper that asparagus is likely to appear earlier this year because of the mild spring so perhaps I'd better remove the cardboard I'd laid over the top of that bed.
If no spears arrive this year, I'm giving up!

    Enjoy the weekend everyone.

Had a lovely walk at the Donkey Sanctuary, the sun came out, and it was really peaceful on the pathways round the edges of the site. All the half term crowds had congregated in the centre near the barns, so we pretty well had the place to ourselves. I noticed a few peony shoots appearing above ground in the gardens. Not sure if these are an early variety, or whether mine are just a lot later on?
I had a lovely cuddle with a massive Poitou donkey, who wandered over to greet us by the fence. Made my day! Spent the early afternoon helping OH pulling up old carpet, he has now settled himself in front of the rugby.
Hope you get a transport solution organised soon, @Hostafan1 The joys of rural living, I bet you have no option of a convenient bus, and if it’s anything like where we are, no buses at all on Sundays. They’ve built a new town between here and Exeter, and altered our bus route to service it. I was miffed to see that they have also introduced a Sunday service, but only between the new town and Exeter, but not as far as our village. And they built a new station there too, so the residents now have both a train and bus service on a Sunday. We have to drive or stay home!

Afternoon. Just settling down for rugby with some Rocky Road and a pot of coffee.

Did some gardening today!! It’s tidying and more tidying at the moment, but the promise of new growth and new ideas is very welcome. I have a few days off now so I can sort through all my seed packets and decide what to sow this year.

I hope everyone is doing ok, particularly those with trials and worries.

  • We took our pooches up to the field by the caravan. The lovely summerhouse in the corner (a substantial wooden one) was completely blown over last Monday and took the fence with it. Thankfully, the caravan is a bit more sheltered.
Then I had a completely absorbing hour in the greenhouse, sowing San Marzano, various herbs, fenugreek and sweet peas.
I have bitten the bullet and ordered 2 quadgrow. They will be a boon when we're away in the caravan.

It’s sunny this morning, but still dark clouds to the south, so we might be in for more rain. Hubby’s sister and BIL live in south east QLD and they’re having huge amounts of rain up there.  Amazing photos on Tele.
