  • We could do with filling up the petrol tank .. it's only a quarter full ... but I have to wait in today for a delivery ... I'll be going past the service station on my way to the farm shop tomorrow ... what I might save in petrol cost today I'd probably spend in making a special journey ... I'll fill up tomorrow.

Remember yesterday I managed to resist an urge to make a Victoria sponge cake?  When OH came home from work he mentioned that he'd been having little fantasies about a Victoria sponge came like he used to have for his birthday when he was a lad ... I hadn't mentioned anything ... but there's a Victoria sponge cake in the oven as I type 😇

I've also got the kitchen towels, tea towels and pinnies in the machine on a hot wash, the veggies are all prepped for supper and I've made an apple sauce to go with the pork chops ... the kitchen (and the whole house) are clean and tidy ... and I' ve Wordled ... it's monsooning outside ... the rest of the day is mine to play with ...  B)

  • Morning. The snow the BBC forecast has not come to pass.
@Dovefromabove always sounds very organised - deep envy.
The situation is deeply worrying all round.

OH will love the cake @Dovefromabove
I got all the ingredients out but ended up making two batches of fairy cakes, one lot with chocolate chunks in, and the other lot with orange zest, a spoonful of marmalade and more chocolate chips. Easier to freeze, and stop us eating them all in one go.
Very cold here this morning, and alternating between tempting sunshine, and wind and rain. Got to go and hopefully order some bedroom carpet this morning. Not looking forward to that, some things I enjoy shopping for, but not that. Hate the way the costs add up with all the extras.
@Pat E I had to laugh at you finishing off the book you aren’t enjoying! I read an article recently about how readers are either those who will give up on a book quickly, and this who will struggle on to the end. I’m in the second group, but trying to train myself to stop when I’ve had enough. Luckily, I’m a fast reader, so it’s not quite such a waste of time.

Just got home from a rather stressful visit with a Very Stroppy Husband to find a message from a friend to say her Husband died yesterday.
He was diagnosed with acute leukemia less than 3 weeks ago

Not really organised @Penny_Forthem .... it's just that I've always been so busy all my life, that being retired is easy peasy ... 😂

Sorry to hear about your friend @Hostafan1 :'(
and that your visit wasn't 'easy'.  ((hugs))

Gosh that's quick @Hostafan1 what a shock for her. Sounds as though you are having rather a bad day. I hope it brightens up for you. Is the VSH in pain?

Raining, but we may go to Tesco as OH wants something and we don't often go there. It is next to a GC which sells nice birthday cards. I need one for OH tomorrow, hard to choose one when he is always with me when we go out.

IMHO he's always in pain, but his dementia stops him articulating this. I've asked for his morphine levels to be increased but they're , understandably, reluctant to do this willy nilly, but 10 mins after he has his " meds " he's calm again.
