Yes, a quiche or a frittata is usually on the menu most weeks .... I grew up on a farm with hundreds of chickens producing eggs for SAPPA ... and then I had a flock of 60 rare breed poultry on the smallholding ... I have plenty of egg dishes in my repertoire .. it's just that we have other plans this week ... and a sweet pudding is just as bad for us as a Victoria Sandwich ... which as I said I was trying to resist making 🤣 There is also a recently discovered jar of raspberry jam in the cupboard ... but that's no reason to make a cake ... is it ...

I am trying to discourage baking! He is eating far too much of the sweet stuff for my liking. He made a very nice leek and potato soup for lunch though. Hip X ray done this morning and results in a week. BBC forecast says heavy snow shower here tomorrow am; the Met office shows a desultory sleet shower at about 8am. My money's on the met office.
Keep going in the right direction @Yviestevie. A friend has had terrible health problems and is currently having to take morphine. We had a very frank discussion on laxatives the other day and I advised her to attack from both directions with the use of suppositories at that end. My OH will be round to you for a slice of Victoria sponge @Dovefromabove - it is his favourite. I'm not baking at all at the moment because we just eat it all. But I do a great cheese & herb (and onion and whatever else is about) omelette called the World Famous in our family as everyone loves my omelettes. Unable to get the GC at the mo as the battery in my car went flat (again) and SIL is charging it up. But in desperate need for a stake to get my poor photinia upright again and staked in the ground. Luckily they deliver, so that's a stake and tie ordered plus a couple of bags of multipurpose. I felt a bit of a pang about that as I have been largely peat free but the stuff I have been getting is not at all suitable for pricking out seedlings. Seed sowing will start soon (so no baking then either as I use the light airy corner of the kitchen for that) and it is well to be prepared.
Your OH will have to wait @didyw, sorry .......... I've managed to resist the lure of Mr Kenwood, and am just about to get on with knitting OH's Aran jumper ...

Victoria Sandwich is one of my least favourites along with Madeira cake. I like Chocolate, Carrot and, best of all, rich fruit cake. Oh, nearly forgot, Coffee and Walnut.
We don't like eggs unless the white is hidden.
I've pruned 2 climbing roses, quite hard. They weren't done last year as I was in lockdown in France.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
We have been battling with gunged up battery terminals on the mower. New battery now installed and OH is now out cutting the grass, it is really quite long in places. Love any cake as long as it's not got cream or chocolate in it.
Oo I could eat a Victoria Sponge 🍰. I confiscated some ginger cake from my Dad, so might have that later considering we only having home made veg soup for supper. All about balance!
I hope everyone is doing ok. I know there are worries and hard times aplenty between us all.
The lighter evenings are very welcome. We just need the rain to stop so I can actually do some gardening jobs. I’ll start looking through my seeds on the weekend and start planning a sowing regime. I put some open shelving by the patio window last year, and that worked really well as a substitute greenhouse.

Manchester tart? That would use the jam better than a Victoria. IMHO.
No eggs for us. Have to throw them away while the chooks are being treated and can't eat any for another 4 weeks after.
