Afternoon folks, a bit better here today but still windy. Even had some sunshine earlier (and rain) but now rather grey. The purple leaved cherry tree in the front garden is cheering me up with its pink blossom appearing, surprised it didn't all get blown off. Walked down to the shops this morning, a neighbour's fences have been trashed and lots of small branches everywhere but couldn't see any more trees down and the farm's barns appear to be intact. Snowdrops on the banks of the stream looked very pretty.
We must be the odd ones out, we don't ever have takeaways. OH used to when he was single but then he is a Londoner. I have never considered most takeaways to be particularly hygienic. We occasionally go to a good Indian restaurant in town but it's not my favourite food.
Hi folks, just popped on to say hello. Have been feeling very low recently lots of family problems. Have a man coming tomorrow to help get the garden back in order for the spring. Haven't felt like tackling it myself this year.
Glad to hear from you, @Yviestevie Someone to get the garden under control for you will be a great start. Nothing like a cleanish start, and one less thing to worry about. Hope the onset of spring will help to boost your mood.
@Lizzie27 ... times have moved on since the days when takeaways were considered unhygienic ... there are some fantastic places nowadays ... we always check this site before ordering from or visiting a new takeaway or restaurant of any type https://www.scoresonthedoors.org.uk/council/norwich-city-council and only use those that score highly. I'm sure your area will have a similar scheme.

Nice to see you @Yviestevie, I think we are desperately in need of seeing a little spring sunshine and lighter evenings, makes such a difference. Someone to get the garden started for you will be a big help too, hard to focus when you have other things on your mind. I do hope the family issues sort themselves out, can be so difficult at times.
Glad to hear not too much damage at the plots @Allotment Boy
I have done my paperwork, well as much as I am prepared to do, and a couple of dull and dreary tasks that I hate doing with a passion. So, this evening, we're having a homemade pizza, and watching a movie with some "movie treats" as Charlie calls them. I am not over keen on the movie he's picked, Star Wars, Phantom Menace, I believe, but it'll be nice to just sit and relax together.
He is off cold water swimming tomorrow and visiting his Lycée of choice on Saturday as they are holding an Open Day for prospective students. He is growing up so fast and becoming so independent, full of ideas about the world, some really interesting, well thought out and well researched arguments and opinions, scares me sometimes that I am losing him, but so far, he is still happy to cuddle up on the sofa and watch a movie with me, so who cares what it is.
Right, need to get on, home made pizza is not as quick as a takeaway..... so much nicer though!
Have a good evening all.

We love the Star Wars series @D0rdogne_Damsel tho this is the first winter we haven't re-watched the entire series en famille. Enjoy your pizza night. Quick spag bol here as we have dance class tonight and need to be out at 7pm.
Living room almost done. Touching up done, furniture back in, wood burner back in its corner. Just another coat of paint needed on the door and its frame. Oh, and I have a picture to frame too but that can wait. Also need to decide whether I'm doing curtains or Roman blinds......
Sorry things haven't been good @Yviestevie but hope they perk up as spring finally gets under way in a few weeks.
No takeaways here either @Lizzie cos I prefer to cook or go out to eat. Pizzas are available in July and August when the holidaymakers invade but we haven't been tempted. There is a good fish and chip stall next to the fish market at the port of les Sables - run by an English woman and her French pal and only at lunchtime. She gets a crate of freshly landed fish from the market 20 metre away and cooks till there's none left. Always a queue and always good.

@Dovefromabove, thanks for that link, I've just checked for our area and still not tempted. I would hazard a guess that the majority have not been inspected over the last two years but I may well be wrong of course. There were very few Chinese or Indian restaurants on the list with a 5 star rating.
Good to see you @Yviestevie , and sorry to hear things have been tough for you ☹️ Hope you recovered well from your op, and that it was successful. Fingers crossed that things on the family front get sorted out soon 🤞🏻

Congratulations @Dovefromabove and hope the meeting goes well tonight @didyw.
