    Hi all

    Slowly getting back to normal.

Flooding is easing, ducks have now moved back to the pond from one of the lawns.
Builder is supposed to be coming to give us a quote for the roof, no idea whether he can get 4 foot by 3 foot sandstone tiles.

    My mood is slowly improving.

I was not intending to tell people this, but being open has always helped me deal with my depression. Anyway, I was due to go on a medical mission, but I failed my medical, so am not happy.

  • Sorry to hear that @punkdoc
My Dad failed the medial for the army in WW2 and he told me it was one of the biggest disappointments of his life and he felt great shame, especially as his younger brother was accepted.

I am quite excited by this news

I hope your VSH can receive the meds from which he could benefit, @Hostafan1 and it would be such a relief to you too.

Try Fleabay. People sell off the old ones from sheds and barns and the like. They may may be in quite high demand just now though  :/

Sorry about your mission - glad to hear you're feeling a bit brighter though

I'm surprised you're surprised and unhappy @punkdoc, given your heart condition but I do hope you cheer up soon and find some roofing tiles.

Hope you can get his meds sorted @Hostafan1 and that things are going better for you @Yviestevie.

SM raid done today.  Quieter than last week for some reason.  No Seville oranges here for making normal marmalade but they did have blood oranges so I shall be making blood orange and chilli marmalade once all this painting lark is done.  All the downstairs doors and door frames to do.........  Then there'll just be the hall, stairs and landing left to do.  Might have to get a man who can as I don't fancy dangling over the stair well with a paintbrush trying to do clean lines when cutting in let alone flapping about with a roller.  Not now I'm 27+1 anyway.  First tho there's some rather gaudy striped wallpaper to strip and that may start the next time it rains.

Sunshine here at last but it was wet around midday so more sog.   I'll need to get out and start pruning roses and clems PDQ and maybe take cuttings too tho we have frosts forecast for the next few nights.

Hope you weather is settling now and there's no more storm and flood damage.

Oh dear, @Obelixx I was about to say what pretty wallpaper! Very cheerful! I’d have to paint the ceiling white though, and change the lampshades.
Sorry to hear your news, @punkdoc but these things often happen for a reason. I’m sure you’ll find some other outlet for your considerable talents that will put you at less personal risk? Hopefully you’ve already achieved more goals than most of us put together!

You'll laugh @Obelixx, I've had to improvise my casserole sauce after all. As I've just posted on the Curmudgeon threat, the SM delivery chappie managed to topple the sack truck over earlier, lots of smashed bottles and jars, including 2 bottles of wine and my red wine sauce. Most things now have a red wine aroma!

However casserole now in the oven for 3 hours and smells delicious. Egg and chips tonight for us though, as I retrieved the cracked eggs. Lots of freebies.

I like your hall, nice and wide, what colour are you going to paint it?

It's a pity about your mission @punkdoc, but hopefully there might be others, perhaps not so strenuous. I'm sure you've been of great assistance online throughout Covid.
Never heard of roof tiles that big, have you any heritage salvage places in your area?

That's a bit of a bummer @Hostafan1 and not easy to solve, they surely could juggle the dosage sometimes.

Just had some really good news, you  might remember my daughter was recently given an award by her company and now they've followed that up with a biggg pay rise. That'll make a huge difference to her, I'm so pleased.

I rummaged about one the kitchen cupboards and found some Colman's cheese sauce mix, best before May 2015, absolutely fine.

Both my Bouquet Garni sachets and Garlic powder were two years out of date, but needs must. The herbs probably won't have much of a flavour left but the casserole smells good.
