  • Glad you’re ok @AnnaB 😊
I heard from @punkdoc yesterday. His stream has flooded (of course) but it’s not too near the house at the moment. That ā€˜old black dog’ has revisited him so he’s keeping himself to himself for a bit.Ā

Poor @punkdoc. Hope he feels better soon.
Well, this storm seems worse than the last one. The mimosa is on its side again, and has pulled the new stake out of the ground. We’ll have to go out later and put another stake in on the opposite side. The trunk hasn’t broken, it seems to have partially pulled its roots up, so hopefully it may recover.
Otherwise, I can’t see any other casualties so far. It was a really noisy night though, and still howling out there. Doesn’t look like I’ll get my green bins filled this week, I don’t fancy spending too much time outside. Very few areas of the garden that don’t have tree branches directly overhead, wouldn’t feel very safe. Same with taking some exercise walking round the village lanes, trees everywhere. What I mustn’t do is waste time watching webcams of planes trying to land. Very entertaining, but will come back to haunt me if and when we book a holiday abroad.
Hope all are keeping safe. Loved your posts this morning, @Pat E
  • Well, what a night! I slept for at least 30 minutes. It sounded like jet engines outside the window (and inside as well!)
Far worse the Eunice - and we were under an Amber warning for that. Only yellow for Frankers. But the wind was stronger and far more sustained - and it's still going.
Lots of trees down between here and the hospital, so he's cancelled this afternoon's appt. I am very relieved. Not only because of the weather, but I didn't fancy driving after so little sleep.
I expected to look out and see no greenhouse, but amazingly, the repairs we did on Saturday have just held. Thank goodness for tape.
Our stream is in full flow too.
Hope you're all Ok, wherever you are.

  • Good morning all.Ā
The awful storm is due to calm this afternoon, I couldn't sleep last night through it, it was so bad.Ā
    I enjoy @Pat E 's news too.
My best wishes to @punkdoc, that he'll feel more like himself soon.

Glad you two are keeping your heads down @Penny_Forthem ((hugs))Ā  ... you can join me on the sofa this afternoon for some knitting/dozing in front of some old Veras if you fancy it ........ I'm giving the sitting room parquet a bit of a blitz with the Ewbank floor polisherĀ  this morning, so it'll be ready for honoured guests ... a nice Brazilian leather pouffe each to put our feet up on, and OH is here to hand out sustaining hot drinks ...maybe you could bring some of your OH's scones?Ā  ;)Ā  At this rate all you need to do is stand outside your house in a loose fitting coat and you'll be here in a moment ...Ā  :o

    @janetfoss ... you're very welcome to join us ... it's a very big sofa ...Ā  tea or coffee? :D

Morning all, it's blowing a hoolie down here today as well, not much rain though. Just been out to fill the bird feeders which I can't keep up with, 40 kg of sunflower hearts almost gone, I can't afford to keep this up! The sparrows have now learnt to eat the fat blocks as well so they are gone in a couple of days, it will be short rations from now on.
Next on my list is to make an eye appointment, long overdue.
Looks like you will be busy @Pat E! Hugs to all and stay safe, the forecast is for the Jetstream to move further north so hopefully things will calm down.
  • Yes, @floralies my birds are very hungry too. Several starlings had queued by the fatball feeder, waiting for me. I'm almost out of sunflower seeds .
Oh dear, I think I've missed out on the kind offer of tea and scones, Dove. I had to deal with a delivery and became distracted with other matters.
I take it @Penny_Forthem makes delicious scones?Ā  Ah well.
  • Hub makes them @janetfoss all part of his 'recovery' from surgery; of course the problem being - he eats them! I don't have a sweet tooth and requested cheese - he made cherry! Better for me though! Give me cheese any day.

We have extremely strong winds now - parks and gardens and plane tree lined roads have been closed.

A French friend is coming for tea this afternoon from Agde. Ā One part of the road from there is very exposed, so I hope she is safe. Ā She has to take her MIL to a doctor's appointment first. Ā She is going to London later this week and needs help with some paperwork.

A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

Flamin 'echium!Ā  Someone give James Blunt a large gobstopper quickly ... that's the most awful rendition of Bridge over Troubled Water that I've ever heard ... horrendous!!!
What the heck is Jeremy V doing playing that????
