We are back in Norfolk. It was wet and very windy but OK. Not as much damage as I expected to see en route. The cover has blown off the garden table and a chair has blown over but I think that's all. We've turned the heating up and OH has lit the wood burner.
@Lizzie27 we went via Milton Keynes, loads of roundabouts, past Bedford and Cambridge. Saw the M1 at one point, huge queues, glad we weren't on it.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
@Busy-Lizzie glad you’re home ok. That’s the route we often take too. It sounds as if you will have passed very close to the farm where I lived when I was very little 😊 The M1 was built across our bottom field.
The weather’s getting grimmer here too … hope @punkdoc’s stream isn’t too close to the house. @WonkyWomble had spent more time today fixing new panels in her greenhouse and trying to make it more secure. It’s important as she has seedlings she’s growing for customers … she phoned me from inside the greenhouse and then had problems getting out … I thought she’d glued the door shut 🤣 however once she put the phone down and put her shoulder to the door she escaped 👍 She says the cats are snug indoors … they don’t want to play in the garden … not even the feral one she’s adopted. She knows where she’s well off 😉

For a while today I have debated with myself as to whether this forum is really the place for me. Whilst politics has its place, all I hoped for is some light relief here, chats about our day and so on. Now politics seems to be invading many threads here and is increasingly hard to avoid. Ah well, roll on the gardening season.
@janetfoss 😊 This thread is for chat… about whatever … just as might happen when a group of friends meets up in a pub … nothing’s really off limits but we don’t stay on one subject for long … I responded to a question … a couple of others commented … that’s it … we’ve moved on … folk join in if they're interested or go elsewhere and do something else if they’re not, and come back later and talk about something else. No rules and no pressure except to be nice to each other. 😊

Yes, of course you're right, Dove. I'm sorry. Perhaps it's the weather, making me stir crazy! I always want to come across as being pleasant, tolerant and kind to everyone here, no matter what is discussed. Hoping all Forkers have a pleasant day, whatever life throws!
The rain and wind are continuing here. Storm Franklin, I understand. Dad has two leaking windows (so therefore a load of wet towels) and is in a slight tizz but hopefully that’s all the bad news with this weather here. I hope Punkdoc and those with damage are doing ok.
Sunday evening routine in full swing here: chicken dinner roasting, homework done (leadership course), hair wash imminent and TV choices made for later (finale of Call The Midwife followed by Trigger Point).
It’s ok @janetfoss … I know exactly how you feel … many moons ago I was new here … there were a few very prickly folk around in those days …. so we set this thread up to be just as I said … like a friendly pub where you can count on meeting a friend or three … sometimes the chat may be ‘lively’ … we can even disagree as long as we do it nicely …. sometimes we need to hold someone’s hand and administer tlc and cake … and sometimes it’s just the ephemera of our days. We take out of it what we put into it.
The wind here is horrid … not as bad as the other day, but still not nice, howling in the chimney, and the rains hammering on the windows. Roll on spring 🌷

I keep forgetting it's still only February! If this thread gives comfort and support, then that's great; and reading between the lines, friendships have been formed too. Cake is a bonus. x

It's still raining very hard, has been all day. Just seen the pics of flooding at Sheffield and other places up there, hope Punkdoc's house is okay.
