Hubby said he’d seen an apple where he didn’t expect to see one.  So, we’ve been for a walk. The Malus ioensis (Iowa Crab) that I planted when my daughter died and was to be a memorial of her when it flowers in October.    Well, it’s more than flowered this year with all the rain we’ve had.  😳

Looks as though I’ll be stewing apples as well as the Nashies that I’m still working my way through. 😂😂

  • Morning all,

Bright and sunny here, which I am very happy about, I had my car valeted inside and out yesterday and didn't want it getting wet an muddy already. It smells like new, what a lovely smell.

Hoping to get back to running club this evening, first time since I was ill, we'll see, I'll see if it's still warm later, I really don't want to be out if it's really cold, that seems to bring the stiffness in the neck back.

Anyway, have a good day all, I do hope no-one is suffering too much from the storm damage, doesn't look good in the news.

morning folks, wall to wall storms then for 4 days. Collcting the grandkids this morning, (half term) having to cross Ashdown Forest, a bit nervous about that! Also got to go to Bexhill, the place where we buy our pringter inks is there. It was in Eastbourne nice and convenient.  We went there a couple of months ago, Hubby took their old box in with him, went to print my Bletchley Park tickets yesterday, the inks don't fit, too big. It says they will refund money on non opened products, but until they were open and tried we didn't know they werent correct, have been buying from them for 10 years, so will try and see. Hope you all have a good and safe day.

Good morning all,  good evening @Pat E,
Glad to hear your friend is on the mend 😀
I've got tomatoes going too but I have a feeling mine may be a little behind yours!

Those are sungold.  I've done a smaller one called sweetboy and gardeners delight.

Glad your holiday has obviously done you good @D0rdogne_Damsel, pace yourself, your life sounds as exhausting as mine.

Take care everyone to come,  it's still not very nice out there!

    Greetings one and all!

Our turn for strong winds today - we are used to the wind but there is a warning out for winds up to 120km/h.  Cold to boot.  It's March weather already.

@Pat E  I saw a rather large Couleuvre (brown snake - harmless) slithering along the back of my wildlife pond.  Probably after the frogs.  I had been sitting about 2 metres away from it under the olive tree!!  Then at the beginning of winter, I saw a beautiful hawk sitting on one of the stones and thought how lovely!!!  Until I realised he was probably cleaning up the frog population too!!   Happy stewing!!

I see on the news that you are all having wind and rain still.  Keep safe.

I hope you enjoy your day whatever you are doing.

  • Good morning all 😊 ☕️ … well,  it isn’t actually very good is it … it’s awful out there … strong winds, torrential rain/sleet hammering on the windows … I dread to think what it’s like in more exposed areas … hold onto your hats folks and stay indoors if possible. I’m glad @WonkyWomble has rearranged her customers so that she has inside work today.
    You’ll have to get yourself a cider press @Pat E. 😉

    Good morning all.

The wind is still very strong. We may have to go out. As we've been away we are out of fruit and nearly out of veg. There are a couple of meals and bread and milk in the freezer though.

Morning all. I think the wind overnight has been the worst so far. Still bad this morning but an hour or two of sunshine is promised. Plus wind of course. Sick of it now.

Glad your friend is recovering well @Pat E.  I love music played on traditional instruments.  And what a crop of apples!
Have woken up to another strong wind storm.  The fence that came down a couple of days ago has been taken out completely by my neighbour and laid flat in his drive and he has moved his car.  So that's all nice and safe, but my poor photinia now has nothing at all to protect it from the wind and although it is still in the ground, is almost horizontal now.  Far too blowy for me to try and take any kind of remedial measures.
Winds forecast to lighten by mid-afternoon.  Hang in there photinia, hang in there!

Good morning everyone. Well naughty storm Franklin really hit us hard yesterday - why was no real warning given as it was with the other two storms? As we are so high up we don't flood, thankfully, but we now have water rivers dividing our fields and our large wild life pond is well and truly overflowing. The rain was torrential and the winds seemed as bad as those during the other two storms. Hope everyone else has managed to stay safe and with little or no extra damage. It does seem that flooding is going to cause a problem for a lot of the country from now on as the water/extra rain finds its way down the rivers to the sea. I think it was @punkdoc who was worried about his stream flooding the garden and moving towards the house, also was he reporting some of the old roof tiles becoming loose and falling? Hope you are ok Punkdoc.
Enjoyed reading your newsy posts @PatE , good luck with the tomatoes and pleased to hear about your friend.
Stay safe everyone and indoors if possible until the worst of the awful weather is over.
