I twitch every time the lights flickerĀ  :/ The rakishly angled fruit cage is now, well, gone. I'm still hoping these are the storms we usually get at the beginning of March and by the time we actually get to March it'll be glorious

  • Evening all,

Busy day here, but all good, however, the dishwasher had blown a fuse and kept putting us in the dark today..... Always something! At least my nails are clear of yesterday's gardening debris. šŸ˜…

Off home now to watch new series of Young Wallender. Can't get BBC I player here, which is very frustrating. Seems to be a lot of good shows on there at the moment.Ā

    Have a good evening all.Ā

Evening all, hope everyone is safe and warm!
Greenhouse patching has so far been successful.Ā
Pergola has been reinforced by using two 5 ft and 6ft crowbars that I've driven into the ground with my largest sledgehammer and have used the traditional farmers method of fixing it with heavy duty cable ties!!
    Again,Ā  so far so good!Ā

Rain is coming down Sideways and the road has blocked drains and water building up.Ā

Which all makes me think my little brave tulip that decided to try and flower is a little daft!!

Anyway after all that playing in the storm all day I've managed to fill another windowsill in the house with more trays of seeds,Ā  had a much needed bath, cooked roast beef,Ā  eaten and now slobbing on the kitchen window seat watching the rain with an audiobook.
Doesn't feel like a very relaxing weekend! šŸ¤”
Can I have another one please?

Hope everyone gets away from this storm unscathed! Take care all!

Dove I found your son’s perspective interesting. I’m not a political person, so usually only listen with half an ear (so to speak), but thinking about it, we only get one perspective on TV. Ā So it’d be good to hear the ordinary Ukrainians being interviewed. Ā  We’ve been given the idea that the Russians will march in and kill anyone who moves. Probably wildly wrong. Ā Never mind,I don’t want to keep on about it and start another chat about it on here.

So - let’s get back to gardening and friendly chat. I’ve been growing tomatoes in pots around the house this summer instead of in the garden. I got a fright Ā in spring when I spotted an eastern brown snake lounging on my little footpath, so have been letting the beds go to weed. 🤭. I planted seeds from some tiny tomatoes and they have flourished in pots. Much easier to keep weed-free and watered. There are small tomatoes developing on the plants, so we might, just might, get some red ones before our winter hits.Ā

Wonky, lovely to see you again and I’m glad you’re still into the gardening life. I loved doing just that when I did it several years ago. Ā Hoping people are ok with the after-effects of the storm.Ā

Interesting to read that there is a second edition of Young Wallender. Ā We’ve only just seen the first one, so looking forward to seeing another. Ā I’ve notice that there are lots of Scandinavian ā€œwho done it’sā€ Ā around nowadays. Ā We are still obsessed with the British ones. Ā Love the way Vera calls everyone ā€œloveā€ . Ā The humour is more to our taste. Don’t like the US ones.Ā

    Night all, sleep well.

Tui, I didn’t notice my mountain range winking at me. From now on I’ll see it every time. šŸ™„

Also, we watched some old ā€œ Voiceā€ episodes recently and really enjoyed Lonnie Donegan’s son singing a duet with Tom Jones. The song was written for Tom by Lonnie. Trouble is, I can’t get the song out of my head now. Darn it! Ā  Some tunes are like that. My Mandolinist friend, Noeline, calls it a flea in the ear. Ā  That reminds me that I should try to get in touch with her. She recently had surgery for cancer, so she might be well enough for a phone call now.Ā

Well, I feel happier now. I rang my d and she’s ok, not 100 percent yet, but line. Up for various meds and chemo, but at least she’s home. Ā  When the Mandolin Orchestra was going strong in Melbourne, she was the lead Mandolinist.Ā Ā Love classical music. I’ve a couple of CD s Ā  Ā  Bar! Ā Can’t get the underline off.Ā

Let’s try again. Hooray. Underline gone. Ā Our weather this afternoon is warm and sunny, even though the weather channel said we are in for rain this evening. šŸ™„. Hubby has spent about an hour or so on the ride-on mower cutting yet more grass. At least he’s keeping it down a bit. Ā I had a laugh when I noticed kangaroos seem to like laying on mown grass. Never seen it before. They usually sit on the ground and eat sitting up. 😁
