Nice haul of mushrooms there @Uff I had a mushroom omelette for lunch with some Clouded Agaric I had in the freezer. It would probably get a red cross on your board but I don't suffer any ill effects.
Hello all, managed a more leisurely read back, all very interesting. I do hope those that are due it get their money back, seems very unjust.
My mother adored Sidney Poitier, and I really liked him too. A good life though. Lots of snow here this morning, still -3 now and more snow due. I've been to running club twice this week, with Charlie too. We're planning on running a marathon together later in the year, his 1st and probably my last, the knees really don't like it much these days. I was due to go again tonight, but they're doing hill training on the cobbled streets in our old town, with the cold and the snow I've chickened out. No point getting an injury at this point. That's my excuse anyway. 😅 Bizarrely, it was busy earlier in the week and today, Friday, which is usually busy has been a bit quiet. All very odd. Hopefully, next week will be a bit more normal. Maybe the snow forecast scared them away. On the other hand, we have a knitting club twice a month on a Friday and we have even more members than ever this afternoon. It's a lovely group, French and English and even with some language barriers they get along great.
Right, have to get Charlie home, so have a lovely evening all. I'm doing Dry January so will be ironing to keep my fingers occupied. 🙄🙂

An interesting collection @Uff, although I fail to appreciate the allure of fungi. I also noted Jack Hedley's also died @Dovefromabove. Although not in the same league as Sidney Poitier, I thought he was a good actor.
I've been shopping! 6 shops altogether, including two GC's. Bought 2 trays of orange primulas to give a shot of colour whilst it's grey outside and had a lovely latte plus fruit flapjack at the second. Needed new socks and undies plus I found a cosy navy blue/white spot fleece at the big SM, which will save me having to go into town. Really enjoyed my morning outside the house and driving around the city.
Septic tanks always seem to cause trouble @Busy-Lizzie, don't envy you at all. We had to have the drains/sewerage in our old house completely dug up and replaced because of encroaching tree roots. Part of a major repair job, long story, but it was a Victorian end terrace add on, very steep hill with past history of landslips, 4 storey at the rear, 2 storey at the front, covered up historic bomb damage etc etc. End result, our house was very gently leaning away from the one next door and the foundations were only a mere 18 inches deep. Yikes! A very expensive job involving underpinning.
That sounds a nightmare @Lizzie27. OH had to have his house in France underpinned before he sold it. It was built on clay and there was torrential rain. The Maire had to declare a "Natural Catastophy" for the villagers to claim insurance.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
It was rather @Buzzy-Lizzie, the house had been added on to the rest of the terrace a few years later but was never apparently 'tied-in' properly to the one next door. One day we discovered a huge vertical crack right through large Bath stone blocks through which you could see daylight. We didn't sleep that night. We rather think the previous owners were aware of the damage but had covered it up with big hessian covered panels screwed to the walls from ceiling to floor (it was a very odd house!) so OH's surveyor hadn't discovered it and we had no proof they knew. We also couldn't prove we didn't know either so had to contribute to the eventual bill.
Can't say I am having a busy day, but then what is busy when you are retired?
Very windy but sunny here, so got the washing out and in. The plumber came and did his jobs. He always says "A y être" which means - whilst I'm here are there any other problems?
@punkdoc I reckon with a little patience in your pocket, something positive should come out of it as there was definitely some sordid business going on there. I wonder if your NDN - ex - is trying it on at his new residence? I think the £500 is worth it. If you ex NDN is found guilty, will he have to foot the £500?
@Uff - serene photo but I don't think I could stand all that snow for more than a week!!
@Dovefromabove There are always clients like that in the building trade. The last bill is always the hardest to get. One such instance was a chap that took photos of each development of the site. He wouldn't pay the last "situation" - so to Court it went where the judge deemed the client to be "lying in wait" for a mistake so that he wouldn't have to pay and awarded us the money!!
@Busy-Lizzie Glad you got the septic tank sorted. Did you have a look at that link I put on about a "furet"? (Length of pliable wire to post down - or up - the pipes).
Whoops - time for Pointless!! Enjoy your evening wherever you are!
Afternoon everyone. Still using daughter's phone to tether me to get here. Electric back on quite quickly but lightening had frizzled the router apparently. New one should arrive in the next day or so. Luckily we have a rayburn running all our heating and hot water and slso a calor gas cooker as a back up so no need for electric to keep the cuppas coming and us fed! Just had a shock though - daughter got notified via phone ap that she was in close contact with covid at work a few days ago. She got in a bit of a panic trying to think who she has been in contact with since. Actually she was at the Doc's yesterday for something so phoned them fast but they don't seem to be worried as everyone was masked up. Her main worry is me as I am elderly and also a long covid sufferer from when I caught it in hospital last year, but there is nothing we can do except uprate our normal precautions and wait. Luckily she had just sent off a PCR test due to her sniffles so we are right on time for that and fingers crossed it might be negative. She will take another test as requested in 8 days. While she was down with family over Christmas they were all taking the LFT's every other day and she has taken 2 more since being home, all negative so we are hopeful.

Glad you didn't get wet @didyw.
Go for it @punkdoc
Right, time for a cuppa.
