Thanks @Busy-Lizzie and @Ergates for vacuum advice. I'll give it some thought. Hope you get your saucepan sorted. BL

Thank you for the burnt pan remedies, I'll try them out tomorrow.

Finished hemming my bedroom curtains, now hanging, they look so much prettier than the ugly ones that were here when I bought this house.

Morning all.  It looks as though we’ve got another few days of rain predicted, so no gardening or mowing here.  There has been so much rain down the centre of Oz that the rail line has been washed away. 😳. That’ll take a long time to repair. That’s the line that goes from Adelaide to Darwin.  When I lived in Darwin, we used to get a lot of food from Perth in WA by ship.

We’ve had a surprise visit from Regina yesterday afternoon. (Haven’t been bothered by her for ages after I told her that Hubby couldn’t risk getting infected because of the effects of the Chemo). We were both reading on the lounge chairs and half nodding off when there was a knock on the door.  Frightened the wits out of us. The “ding dong” that Hubby set up on the driveway didn’t warn us. I suppose the lightning from the night before had taken it out. Anyway, she stayed so long that I had to give her very pointed hints that it was tea time by 6.39pm.  She eventually got up and went. 👏👏

Best wishes to all who are suffering from various aches and pains.

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️
what a coincidence @Pat E I was just wondering yesterday what had happened to Regina … so the answer is ‘nothing’ 😉 she’s still there … you’ll have to establish some boundaries before she slips into her old ways.

I had a much better night … only waking a couple of times … paracetamol and Strepsils seem to be doing the trick. I’m also not shivery this morning. Yesterday’s alternating fever and chills was horrid … I didn’t remember feeling quite so poorly for a long time.

The wind has dropped here and we have a light frost and blue sky … it was very blustery yesterday … but nothing as bad as further north where the news is that there have been some tragedies … it rather puts garden damage into perspective. 😞

OH has been out and topped up the bird feeders … I’m not sure that I’m going to feel up to sitting by a window for an hour tho’ … the birdcount might have to manage without me just this once.

  • Morning @Dovefromabove, glad to hear you are feeling a bit better, I have every sympathy with you and send you a big hug.

Still suffering myself, nowhere near as bad, but the sore throat seems to have moved to the other side and the other ear now.... no antibiotics left, not quite sure what to do about that. Getting worried about the ski holiday now, an incredibly expensive holiday not to be able to enjoy fully. 5 days and counting.    :/

I do hope no-one on here is suffering from the storms, they look very scary.

We are obviously on the same wave link Dove 🙄😁.  She’s not as easy to distract as you’d hope.

I hope you continue to feel better.

  • Hi everyone,  bright but frosty start here.  Worked in the garden till 5 yesterday pm.  We re-potted 2 red leaved Acers,  one had been in a terracotta pot, which the frost had shattered,  the other was in an upright pot. We have put them both in black glazed round bowl shaped pots. The second one put up a real fight,  at one point we thought I was worried we were going to have to break the pot which would have been a real shame.  Anyway we did it in the end,  but our arms were suffering all evening.  Hope they respond well now, pics to follow later when they are in leaf.

Call your doc and see if they'll send a prescription direct to your pharmacy for you to collect @D0rdogne_Damsel.   Need to kill off that bug completely.   Take it easy this week and stick to admin and directing rather than doing.

Another miserable grey day here but just above freezing so a move in the right direction I suppose.

@Pat E Sounds like you need to stop hinting and start being firm since she doesn't do subtle.   Maybe a sign at the entrance saying "No Visitors during Covid please".  You can tell the ones you don't mind seeing that it doesn't include them.

Well done with the curtains @Busy-Lizzie.   We need some here too for the living room but I cant decide between curtains and Roman blinds so will wait till I've painted the walls in a couple of weeks.

OH has golf on TV so I haven't seen any news yet but I hope everyone in stormy areas is OK.

Morning all, another very cold frosty start with some fog, I do wish it would warm up during the night. I should have looked in on the other thread during the night, i was up with acid reflux. @D0rdogne_Damsel do you think you should see your GP? Your holiday is only a few days away. glad you are feeling a tad better @Dovefromabove, Hugs to poorly peeps and/or those they are looking after.
Stay safe all of you in the rain and gales. I will do the French bird watch later when I have filled the feeders.

    🤞 D0rdogne_Damsel thanks
and hugs to you too.  I’ve been gargling with full strength Listerine which seems to have helped.  Yesterday it was as if my throat was full of brambles and stinging nettles all the time … now it’s only when I swallow 🤞

@Pat E we’re going to have to put our thinking caps on and come up with a Regina’s Hometime strategy …. 🤔

Edited to say… I think @Obelixx’s idea is good … but it’s a bit ‘all or nothing’. It’s a shame she can’t just stay for a short chat. Maybe say all visits have to be outside and socially distanced. Set up some outside furniture at the required places and see if that stops her feeling so ‘settled’.
