    Morning all.

I hope everyone is well. My antigen test this morning was negative. But I now have 5 grandchildren with Covid. Son 2 and his small son are better. I haven't seen the latest ones to catch it, 2 are Daughter 2's but they aren't very ill. They were with their father when I last saw D2.

I've booked a flight early February to go to Norfolk. Ryanair had cancelled the January flights. OH has lung function tests on the 22nd Feb and an appointment with the heart and lung consultant early March. If that is OK then he should have his operation in March with any luck. I'll fly home, pick up my car and drive back to Norfolk. I'll need my car as, thanks to b....y Brexit, car insurance for non-residents of the UK is almost impossible and very expensive. We used to share the driving on long journeys but Brexit has put a stop to that.

I need to go to Leclerc for a few things. It's market day so, hopefully, everyone will be at the market not the SM.

@Nanny Beach, if you haven’t set off with the fridge yet, we have been using ao.com to recycle our old fridge, dishwasher etc. For the princely sum of £20, you can book a slot for them to pick it up, even if you aren’t buying a replacement from them.
Very good service, and easy to book via their website. We have got past the point of being able to manhandle stuff into the car, and been wondering why we didn’t use them sooner. Cheaper and quicker than the council, when they haven’t suspended their collection service, that is.

Glad your test is negative @Busy-Lizzie and fingers crossed your grandchildren will make swift recoveries.  Fingers crossed too for your OH's tests 🤞  Don't get me started on the problems caused by you know what!!!🤐

We checked the car tyres yesterday and one was quite soft  :o ... OH pumped them up and has checked again today ... all seems well Phew!

Now to get ready to head for the farm shop ... I'll finish my coffee first tho ☕

OH has said that the car windscreen is iced up quite hard ... well, I'm in no rush ... one of the wonderful things about retirement is that I don't have to go out there and scrape the windscreens at 7am any more  B)

Woke to a heavy frost this morning, and minus 2C. Luckily OH left the heating on a slightly higher overnight setting in anticipation, so nice and cosy inside. Very pretty and bright out, and very pleased that we filled the bird feeders yesterday. A day at home today, we picked up some paint samples yesterday, plus some extra big rawl plugs OH wanted for a project he’s working on, so no need to go out.
A lot of the garden shrubs are looking a bit miserable, hope they recover ok. We have had a very mild winter here so far. Take care on the roads, @Hostafan1, probably icy out there.
  • Morning all, started bright but clouded over now. The replacement tree came yesterday while I was at Capel, just as well that OH was here, she was supposed to be ferrying GD from college in Watford to dancing, but the dancing was cancelled.  Haven't unwrapped it yet hope this one is OK. The garden men are supposed to be coming tomorrow to do drainage,  hope we can get tree planted as well.

    Morning all
Do be careful with that fridge @Nanny Beach.  And I hope your son isn't tooo depressed for his birthday.
    Gorgeous photo @Pat E - looks like a scene from a film!
Let's hope all goes to plan with your OH @Busy-Lizzie. But a bore for you to have to then return to France for the car.  As you say b****y B*****.

@Busy-Lizzie would it not be easier to hire a car when you get to the UK rather than come all the way back for yours?
