@tui34 hope the tooth is easing. 🤗

My throat certainly is less painful after some Strepsils … but I am really tired of course. I’ve been nodding off through the tennis.

OH came home from the SM with salmon, creme fraiche and tagliatelle … he thought it’d slip down easily ..he’s going to cook it as well 🥰

@Ergates.  No the chipped part isn't scratching my cheek.  It feels more like infection in the cavity.  Also the mouthwash isn't hot.  I boil the water to sterilise and then I infuse the other ingredients, strain and gargle cold!  I also have an antiseptique mouthwash Edudril or something.
    Thank you for your concern.

@Obelixx  Hi there!  Probably an emergency dentist at the hospital - but I think I would rather suffer toothache than pick up the odd Covid - if you can stand the wait.  It's a mess there.  i'll front up to my dentist on Monday and wait there with a tent and thermos!

Your OH is a Treasure @Dovefromabove. It sounds delicious too.

    Well done Charlie @D0rdogne_Damsel

That sounds a good mixture for your tooth @tui34. I think you need to contact the dentist again and say that it has become an emergency.

I have spent the last 1 1/2 hours stacking logs, that is as much as my back can take for today. Hope to finish tomorrow. The stove does keep the house nice and warm and I can cook on it too.

@Dovefromabove   It's not getting worse for the moment - am waiting for nightfall!!
Salmon and cream pasta is the best!!  These younger OHs are such diamonds, aren't they?

@Busy-Lizzie  As I said above - we'll see when the sun goes down!! Whoooooooo!!
You are a good girl to work for one and a half hours in such an energetic job!!!  I can do that when pottering around the garden - but hulking logs - you'll sleep well tonight!!

    Afternoon folks,
Hope all poorly posters get better soon.
Usual walk this morning to get the Saturday paper and some fresh batons from the bakery. I cooked a beef casserole yesterday and OH likes any left-over liquid to eat as a soup so needed proper bread (we usually eat Ryvitas to keep our weight down).

The wind overnight kept waking us so we don't feel very energetic today, in fact OH has just nodded off on the sofa. Before lunch I cleaned one of the bird feeders that seemed to be clogged up - horrible job and I couldn't remember how to undo the bottom half. However it's done now and drying in the porch.

I'm wondering whether or not to buy a stick vacuum cleaner. I only need one to clean the  big front door rug daily and perhaps our small ensuite. I thought it might be easier than lugging the bigger Miele around. Does anybody have any advice or recommendations please.

I find my little battery vacuum very useful @Lizzie27. I have a Hoover, but it needs its filter to be washed quite often. I bought my daughter a Shark, much more expensive. She loves it uses it for the whole house.

I thought I'd have a go making marmalade on the wood burning stove. It didn't get hot enough, boiled but not enough to set, so I put it on the gas hob. Was taking a while to get to setting point. All of a sudden it started to burn. It may be OK but will probably have a caramel flavour. Bother.

Does anyone know what to do to a stainless steel pan with burnt marmalade stuck on the bottom, please?

@Lizzie27, our stick vacuum cleaner has been revolutionary, in that it’s very light and easy to use, and we are more inclined to use it, and put it away, because there is no faffing around with electric cables. Big bonus is that OH loves using it, much more inclined to clean up after himself. Worth trying one in a shop if you can, to see if you actually find it easier on your back. However, ours is a very expensive Dyson, so if you only want it for limited use, it probably wouldn’t be worth the outlay. There are other brands available that might suit your needs better.

@Busy-Lizzie :  You could try filling your pan with water and heating it to boiling - adding baking soda sometimes works too...  I've heard of people using bio washing liquid, but I've not tried it myself.

@Busy-Lizzie - Ariel washing powder.  a good dollop and then hot water to dissolve it and just leave for a day.   You should find most ahs lifted and the rest is easy to remove or you can just rinse it all out and do a second dose.  Years of experience here!!

Hot water and a good dishwasher  tablet @Busy-Lizzie … leave it to soak 24 hours … at least 🤞
