    Hi all

    Snowing heavily again.

A bit hacked off this morning. You may remember I told you about our gas being "stolen", by ex NDN, anyway I have approached 3 different solicitors and none of them are interested, because it is such a small amount. Since when has £3500 been a small amount and the scumbag has a reputation for doing such things.
Anyway we are going to take it to the small claims court ourselves, for the "small" fee of £500.

Oh dear, @punkdoc, what a horrible thing to happen to you. All the very best for a successful outcome.
It was a promising start, weatherwise this morning, with blue skies and fluffy white clouds. Now it changes by the minute, with hail/sleet and snow showers. I am not looking forward to going out soon, but needs must.
    Lovely photo, Uff.

Sounds as though solicitors earn too much.

I have all the birthdays etc in my head and my phone too @Obelixx ... but putting them on the calendar in the downstairs loo is my Buttons, Belt & Braces approach ... and that way OH has no excuse for missing any important ones either ... not that he ever has, to be fair  B)

I know new houses have problems @Nanny Beach ... but old houses have quirks ... idiosyncracies ... they're different ... there are no standard fixes ... you have to know the 'character' of the house and the materials used ... you can't replace anything 'like for like'.  My ex used to restore very old Listed timberframed buildings ...  he was very good at his job.

Love that view @Uff ... and I'm glad Wee Uff is better now and wanting to go out to play in it.

I remember Ma saying she won over £100 a year every year by not doing the Lotto  ;)

Way back, in the early days of the National Lottery, I worked for a music  festival and one day  I took a phone call from a world famous musician (a household name) ... he phoned in person because he felt bad and wanted to apologise ... despite his agent/manager having negotiated terms to appear at our festival, he was going to decline ... he had discovered that we received Lottery funding and he didn't approve of the Lottery, regarding it as taxing the poor.  We respected his decision and kept that information to ourselves.  I don't know whether he still doesn't appear at Lottery funded venues ... I suspect that there are very few in the UK who aren't Lottery funded nowadays.

Having checked out the venues he's appearing at this year ... it would seem that he's no longer able to avoid appearing at lottery funded venues.  At least he tried.

Good luck @punkdoc .... the Small Claims procedure is pretty straight forward ... or at least it used to be back in the day when I helped Wonky's Papa win a case for non-payment of the final stage of a renovation project.  We did win ........ however the b'stard fled to Spain and we never got our money.  I wonder if he's still there ... shall I google his name and see if he pops up anywhere ... I remember him well although it must be getting on for 40 years ago ...

@punkdoc, would Ofgen or whatever they are called, be of any help? Not with the exNDN, but perhaps the gas company who might have picked up the problem sooner?
Just having a delayed second cup of coffee. OH has just put the power back on after repairing the plaster beside one of the power sockets. He has his uses! He has also found an interesting YouTube channel showing a live feed from Manchester airport. I’ve been an avid plane spotter since childhood, so I’m finding this great fun. And all from the warmth of our living room!

Hmmm there's an actor about the same age, with very similar looks  (although obviously older, with more weight and grizzled hair) now based in Cornwall ... doing small parts on Doc Martin et al .................... his CV says he went to college in the area where we knew him as living at the time the ex was doing up a 'weekend cottage' for him in Suffolk ...  Hmmmmm I can imagine him going into acting ... quite 'self aware' if you get me ...

This must have been before my time punkdoc, will you give me a brief resume of what it was about, please?

Thanks @Ergates, we have tried them and they were less than helpful.

We are being very positive about this, because at least we know are bills are going to be lower now our gas is no longer ending up in his business.
