    Good morning all 😊 ☕️
Not a great night as my throat is very painful on one side. OH has gone to Wrose and Boots to get Strepsils and more paracetamol. I think it’s just a strep throat but I’ll do a LFT later this morning to rule out anything nastier.
Meanwhile I shall have a lazy day. OH is at home for the weekend so I will be looked after. 😊

    Good morning all.

I hope your throat feels better soon @Dovefromabove? Could you have caught a cold? Mine sometimes start with a sore throat.

The breakfast room curtain is up now. Looks cosier at night, no more big black window when I'm sitting at the lap top. Also it will help shade the bright morning sun so I can see my screen better and OH won't be dazzled in his place.

The big job today is stacking the logs. P. wants to borrow the horse trailer and it's behind the logs and they are blocking the entrance for my car. The logs are tipped out in the open barn and they need to be stacked around the edge.

Looks very grey outside, but no frost which makes a change.

Thank you @Busy-Lizzie 😊  … OH had a niggle in his throat last week but it disappeared … other folk have spoken of having similar throats … not quite sure how they’re spreading … but it does seem to be getting about.

  • Morning all,

Sorry about your sore throat @Dovefromabove, I didn't mean to share.

Don't envy you that log moving @Busy-Lizzie, don't overdo it.

Feeling a tad better today, the kine definitely loosened something. Still got the lingering headache and sore throat, I think all are connected, but so much better than before. Having another day off work and then doing a half day on Sunday, see how I go on. Very conscious that I go on holiday on Friday and the staff will have to cover that, they need a break before then, but then I need not to be ill by Friday. Gently does it.

Very misty here and icy too, glad I wasn't out on the roads early as I would have to be normally.

Charlie's results slowly coming in from his mock exams, he has done really well. Over 80% for maths, physics, technology. French not so good, 68% but he still had best mark in the class, when you think it's a second language to him that is good going. Apparently the teacher said it was a tough paper. He knows what he has to work on though, which is the point of the mocks. He was very upset he didn't get over 90% in his physics. He is really working hard on that now as he Lycee he wants to go to will automatically invite him if he achieves that his teacher has told him. Good few months to get it right yet. I a just really pleased he is taking it so seriously.

    Have a good day all.

Glad you’re on the mend @D0rdogne_Damsel … but there really was no need to be quite so generous 🤒

    Morning all.   :)

Sorry I missed your birthday, @Dovefromabove ...  Hope the lurgy passes quickly.  Perhaps you can schedule an "official birthday" for a nice summer Saturday, like the Queen does.  :)

Your lad has an old head on young shoulders, @D0rdogne_Damsel .  He must have inherited his mother's determination... be careful to pace yourself before your holiday, won't you?

I guess you'll be glad of those logs, @Busy-Lizzie , even though moving them is a pain.  (More winter to come, I reckon, though today feels quite warm and spring-like here in Ireland.)  It must be such a relief to have the drains sorted!

    Thinking of you, @AuntyRach , @Lizzie27 , @Hostafan1 and @punkdoc .

Best wishes to all.  Marmalade oranges are calling me...

Hope that throat settles quickly, @Dovefromabove. How tiresome.
Good to see some improvement, @D0rdogne_Damsel, but definitely need to look after yourself ready for your holiday.
Hope everyone has a reasonable weekend. We have some sun this morning, so tempted to take overselves down to the seafront for a walk. Very aware that I started stripping old wallpaper in the corridor yesterday, and had to stop halfway through the job because it was making my back ache. Very tempting to put it off for as long as possible! I’m thinking that I’d rather have the walk, and be too tired to continue with the wall, than do the wall and be too sore to have a walk!

Thanks for reminding me @Liriodendron! I bought some marmalade orange and have forgotten to make the marmalade.
